I was in Hiroshima nearly two years ago... It seems like just yesterday. I loved Hiroshima more than Osaka and Tokyo combined... something honest and humble about the city. People sharing in cultural suffering, and the city stands defiant among the tragedy that occurred there. Proving that life will continue in the face of horror. I had a great time there. I visited the birthplace of the Kendama!

Shinichi, thank you taking this walk through Hiroshima. It's nice to know that Hiroshima still has those trams. Don't apologize for where you take us. If you should back to Nagasaki, take us to the Peace Park there as well. I've been to the one in Hiroshima twice, so I always wondered about the one in Nagasaki. Before anyone asks. Yes, I have been to Arizona Memorial. I live in Hawaii. Lives lost are lives lost no matter what country you are from. It will always be somber. For every life lost, there are family and friends who miss them. For some, family we will never meet.

My wife & I were fortunate to visit Hiroshima just before covid-19 outbreak. We really enjoyed our visit to Peace Park, the Atomic Dome etc. For me it was a very moving experience, somewhat sad. Unfortunately we never had the chance to explore the streets & shopping arcades, although we did manage to spend some time on Mayajima Island., the Torri gate was covered up for restoration.. An unforgettable exoerience. A great video!

The only building still standing that survived the atomic bomb in this area.. I started crying when you got to the bridge. My emotions of our trip to Hiroshima in Sept 2018 are still strong. I didn't have dry eyes in theis area, and when the school kids were singing.. And, the peace bell.. When we got outside of this area, where the shopping archades are and in the city.. It really hit me... It's a very intense feeling, for sure. Hiroshima was a wonderful place to visit.

I love watching your older videos while I work, like you are keeping me company while I am stuck doing boring things. I am an American that was born in Tokyo (Tachikawa), grew up in Japan (left at 9 yrs old), and I visited Hiroshima in the late 70's. 40 yrs later and it still makes my soul hurt to see that dome, and the museum will change you forever... I can still see the diorama at the beginning where ppl are fleeing the blast, permanently etched in my memory. Glad the cranes are still there, but I remember a tree full of them as well. (Maybe it was for an event, or I was much shorter and saw the children's memorial differently, but I remember a huge dead tree on the site near the dome with thousands of cranes that made it look like a willow tree....folding them for the memorial is how I remember how to do it flawlessly, even at 51 yrs o!d.) And don't feel bad about crying, I am too as I type this, but it is important to remember how horrible the reality of nuclear war is. Definitely don't miss if you go to Hiroshima, it will hurt, but it should. Thank you for this. Love to you and Satoshi

Man, I love this video and hope you do more like them Shinichi. Shotengai and other shopping areas don't get enough love on KZbin. Most KZbinrs want to show mostly temples, parks and empty back alleys. I think the stores in Japan are some of the most interesting and creative places where you can see stuff found no where else. Got really excited when you mentioned Andersen because one of the first places I go to get some food when I arrive in Tokyo is the Andersen inside Ueno station. Never miss going there.

That's not a stain on your camera lens. It is a small ghost sitting there - a protective spirit which is accompanying you throughout this video to show you that life is never perfect but still full of joy and happiness. Embrace the unexpected whenever it comes to you... 💖 Thank you so much for these walking videos - they mean so much to me during these time when I can not make these walks myself. Please continue with them. Especially those backside and sideways views are so interesting - unlike the often boring videos which show only the touristic sites your videos make me feel like I am really there. And also thank you for sharing the historical monuments of Hiroshima which remind us to never forget what happened and to hopefully learn for the future.

I so enjoyed watching this and the other Hiroshima/Miyajima videos, Shinichi-san. My family and I were in Hiroshima in Dec 2019 and it was the last time we went any place, haha. Hiroshima holds a special place in my heart, especially after our visit to the Peace Memorial Museum. We walked around Hondori a few times but as it was quite a long "alley", we never really got to explore everything there was to see. Thank you for bringing me back there. Hopefully, when all this is over, we will go back to Hiroshima again.

I visited Hiroshima in 2019 and spent a good hour or so sitting on the other side of the river facing the dome, just thinking and taking it all in. I visited Hiroshima in March 2018, and even though only half of the museum was open then, it was an intensely sad and disturbing experience that I feel should be mandatory for everyone, especially those in power (and _especially_ those in power in countries with nuclear weapons). You shouldn't be ashamed for crying, Shinichi, I think we all do when visiting the Peace Memorial Museum - as we should. You're supposed to be sad, it just shows that you realize how horrible it was. I'd say it means you've gotten the message of Hiroshima (and the Peace Park especially): That this should never ever happen again.

Thank you Shinichi. I was four years old in 1945 living in New Mexico about 100 miles from Los Alamos where the A-bomb was developed and about 225 miles from White Sands Proving Grounds where it was tested. I have flown model airplanes at Los Alamos and hiked the dunes at White Sands, but I have never been to Japan and am not likely to go at my age. For me, this video spans "living memory" and provided a personal touch from someone I "know" (through watching many of your videos) to round things out from the other end. Hopefully your coverage will help carry that memory forward to younger generations so that lessons from the past will not be forgotten in the future. Perhaps you will take momona Kokeshi's suggestion and also cover Nagasaki?

It’s always a treat when you are touring a city and taking us with you. As I stated in your prior vlogs, it helps to plan our trip back to some of these cities (when we can return to Japan). I don’t know why Japan being an advance country is so slow with vaccinating the population. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are now providing the vaccine to young people, e.g., students in elementary to high school. I also want to “thank you” for replying to my occasional questions especially since you must receive a lot of comments. BTW, we don’t have the “Ugly Burger” in. Northern California.

Is the statue of Sadoku (did I misspell her name) near the Peace Park? I remember reading about her story in fifth grade (1996-1997). We were going to make some paper cranes but for some reason we did not make enough in time to send them to Hiroshima. It was a heartbreaking story about her. War is such an ugly thing. I love your sensitivity, Sinichi. That makes you beautiful. 💖

I am in awe of Japan to keep reminders of the past. I live in the United States of America, where there is a movement called "cancel culture" where people are trying to erase relics of past racism. Comment: Part "3" Shinchan no problem with the smudge on the lens...this is a common and simply overlooked...had it happen to me too. Hence, your narrative enhances the video footage and made for a enjoyable walking tour. Note: Maybe you could make a video on "pinning" locations on Apple Maps and then sending to friends. I'm trying to have relative "pin" our Family Haka in Hiroshima so I can find it on my next trip. Regarding you question on the format of our walking tours...I don't mind the length at all as long as you are narrating. It would be another matter if you recorded for just 15 minutes and not said anything. I've some vloggers who say nothing and may embed some text...in my opinion not enjoyable. Keep your current format of walking tours with narration. By the way, you must enjoy walking gauging by the what you cover on your walks...that's the way I like to cover ground. Walk between short station stops...you get to see a lot more interesting sites and probably end up at the next stop at the same time. Thanks! 😻
