CD band, vinyl band, hahaha... I´m glad I´m not the only one who does that! It always feel so wrong when you have to change to the other format for a certain band, hahaha... Here´s my strangest one: Suffocation, their full length albums are "CD albums" BUT their EPs are "vinyl must haves", hahaha...

Hahah that's a strange mix up, but I'm sure it makes sense in a way. I will do things like full lengths on LPs, but demos compilations on CDs haha.

I used to travel from guildford to the Sydney about every second weekend. There used to be a bunch of records stores. Utopia, martins, redeye, Ashwoods, lawsons as well as every little suburb had a record store.

@ExplosiveAction do you remember Goulds book arcade . I think it was on George St. I used to get posters and bootleg LPS from there. I used to go to utopia. When it first opened and it was downstairs in Martin place. Town hall station had a record store called anthem records. I am a 63 year old metal head. I grew up with judas priest iron maiden motorhead sabbath etc.

@@jamesw4895 Goulds I only knew of their massive Newtown warehouse, that was enourmous. Anthem sounds before my time. I used to love going to the various Red Eye incarnations; there was one on the far side of the QVB that had a second story dedicated to metal for a while in the early 2000s.

Ordering online or picking up via discogs or fb groups is great fun and convenient as hell but i still love supporting actual record stores too and love seeing your videos doing the same. We are really lucky in Sydney to have as many physical record stores as we still do. Long may they reign. Cheers for another entertaining shopping video. \m/

I got that Hyperdontia album. It was the last pre-order vinyl I ever bought and won't be buying pre-order again. It got delayed and delayed, then arrived with the label on the day they closed for holidays. Took about a month to arrive. Then, when it arrived, found the artwork was really fuzzy/not sharp at all, so messaged the band and matey. The band said 'not our problem' and nothing back from matey at the label. Recently, I've bought from other labels and they've sent damaged goods, wrong versions and wrong orders enteritly. It seems QC these days is very slack. Face to face, or not at all is the new rule. Appreciate these record store visit videos as this seems to be the only way to get a good idea of what you're buying.
@ExplosiveAction6 ай бұрын
I definitely don't pre-order records or CDs. There's no real point in Australia pre-ordering something international anyway that has day and date release through retailers, as the retailers in my experience get their copies first as they buy wholesale bulk. I do buy online though, and sometimes of course you get damaged stuff, but a lot of that is down to picking your distros - NWN, Iron Bonehead, Osmose, Amor Fati etc all pack well and my local distros too. But I do love buying in a shop.
@iKnowFast6 ай бұрын
@@ExplosiveAction I get in the flow with some bands. This was one of those moments. When a pre-order comes along, on a UK label, it's hard not to. But, I totally felt letdown by this. I also had a bad experience with a Paypal deal. The pre-order went past 3 months they over sold and I didn't get it. About £100 gone. Either the record is in front of me, or from a very trusted trader, or not at all. Limiting this way isn't too smart, but sometimes, when you been screwed over so many times, it's time to let this go. I've seen it all over with nearly 40 years of collecting. Missing post (soooo many times), rip off sellers, fakes, missing booklets and posers, the record folded in half to get through the letterbox, over charging/under charging on postage, records between pieces of wood scratched to shit, sleeves stapled together and address held on naked cover with glue. Packages left in the rain, packages thrown by couriers at the house. Ugh! I'm totally cool with shops, let someone else deal with that stuff innit. Rant over (for now) haha.
