I do find it ironic how in most fiction kids are the ones easily accepting of the supernatural and running away from monsters while the adults would try to assure them that monsters don’t exist and would try to rationalize any weird stuff they saw. Here, in Zombieland Saga it’s the adults who immediately recognize and freak out at the girls being zombies while the kids are the ones accepting the mundane explanations (first, that they got injured, then that Franchouchou were just wearing zombie make up and not actually dead)

Well from time to time when the girls are shown from the perspective of another character they're drawn either realistic or uglier/darker than how we see them usually. We can't really know how much they look like Zombies in the eyes of the characters. We have to think of it as "What if this would be our reality?" in order to ask that question. And corpses usually don't look that nice. So unless they are very good with Make Up, you could start to ask questions. Especially if they'd run around the entire time like this.

In this case Franchouchou may well have assumed that the kids being kids would be freaked out by their appearances even if they lied about it being make up and decided it was better to cover themselves. I’d imagine the adults probably would’ve disapproved of the girls’ “zombie act” thinking it was inappropriate and too scary for children esp when the kids were already dealing with being displaced from their homes after a huge storm. It was just fortunate that the kids weren’t freaked out by the girls’s “make up” so no one complained

I think part of it is individual perception & circumstances. Like Maimai didn’t freak out when she saw them but the only cop in Saga runs into them in dark places & at night. The Saganship lady initially got freaked out by Sakura’s head then bumped into the rest of them while panicked & in the seemingly dark hallways of the hotel.

@@WilliamDoheny yeah two times Franchouchou had their zombie ness exposed was during performances (Saga castle in S1 and this ep) in which case it would be easy to pass them off as just gimmicks. In the case of the kids it helped that the kids had spent days getting to know and bond with Franchouchou so they wouldn’t associate Franchouchou with being scary. Similiar thing with Maimai as she was already a big fan of Franchouchou and recognized them when she “woke up” so she wasn’t scared of them (it probably helps that she was likely still disoriented from hitting her head and wasn’t wearing her glasses so she couldn’t fully process their zombie looks). I’d imagine if Maimai or the kids had met Franchouchou in the middle of the night under poor lighting with no clue of who they were they’d probably react no differently than the cop, rappers or pharmaceutical lady

I think, this wouldn't work at least with the current group. Just imagine them saying, we are the Zombie Idols while one of them looks very similar to an idol that died on a stage only a few years prior (and then people would see that the others look like dead people as well). Even if the idea in itself is not necessarily a bad one, but the fact that they do look similar would be regarded very tasteless to the dead people (and rightfully so if we are honest).

Even if everyone believes the idea that this zombie thing is just their theme (which is not hard), then you will still have people recognizing the similarities. They already mentioned it throughout the show like when they asked Ai in an interview that she looks very similar to the center of Iron Frill. In the case of the show, they could just say "it's coincidence" and that's that. However if the same question was asked to Ai while she was looking like a Zombie and they were saying this is their theme, the answer would have been a lot more awkward.

As I said, it wouldn't have mattered, because in your scenario this would have been their general idea. They would have to explain why they think it's fine that all of their zombie makeup makes them look similar to real people that died (some not even that long ago). It would never go through. People would not like it if they "made fun" of a tragedy through their zombie idol idea.
