Love the video. Not sure if you’ve already done it but a look into what you have out in the field may help a lot of people. From what I saw there’s a lot of bags in there and I highly doubt you’re bringing all of them. Maybe a video idea for down the road 🤔 Keep up the great work!

@@mikemanning8253 I suspect its because its a full frame sensor camera, they tend to give a better quality image, 7dii, 1dxii are about 20mp each but the 5Div is a 30mp camera on full frame, so cleaner images

Great video! Curious to find out which specific lens do you use your extenders with? Some people claim that using an extender with a zoom lens makes for softer images, while others say it's just fine. Thanks. Love the channel!

I use them with my 70-200 very regularly, as well as my 500. Not so much with the Sigma 120-300 or the Canon 100-400.

Hey John, Great video, and generally , great channel !!! I love watching your videos, gorgeous shots, and meaningful too, rare combination lately ... Would you say that 70-200 2.8 is II with 2x TC can substitute for 100-400 without too much loss in quality ? I am sure the AF will be quite slower, but i am shooting much more on wide apertures at concerts and dark enviorments, etc. to justify the purchase of such a dark lens for the rare wildlife occasions .. would be great to hear from you ! Greetings !!!

I am just getting started. Bought a Nikon d5500 to get started. I don't know if I should stay with Nikon or invest in a Canon or Sony to upgrade. I cannot afford many different body/lenses. What "one" body and lens do you recommend?

Hey! Have you ever used the Canon 200-400 with 1.4x for wildlife? Im saving up for it but wondering if it is worth the price tag.. I currently use a tamron 150-600 but hate the AF system on it.. I'm hoping the 200-400 would be much better, but trying to find someone that's had on location experience with it.
@A2thaMFK
@A2thaMFK 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher, I own and use the Canon 200-400mm. You will not regret it! Possibly the only two issues I have with the lens is a) It's actually heavier then the 500mm F4L II. So hand holding is pretty hard, especially with a 1DX MK II attached. The other thing is, for the same price I could have purchased a 600mm. And sometimes I wish I had have, for that extra reach. But at the same time, having the 200mm to 400mm + 1.4 converter, so up to 560mm It's not that far off. And often I'm glad I can actually zoom out. So that is more of a "depends on the situation" type issue. I use it specifically with a bean bag inside a vehicle, or on a tripod with Gimbal head on foot. The lens is sharp, you want be disappointed with that. And even with the converter, which I use engaged 70% of the time, it's still extremely sharp. At the end of the day, I made the right choice purchasing it, love it, and now use it more then any other lens.

I have not used the 200-400 all that much other than a brief two day stint when Canon Canada loaned me a camera. It's actually the only Canon big lens that I've never gotten the chance to use much. However, it was pretty sharp with the 1.4x in my tests, you just have to be sure to calibrate it properly.

What is the percentage of shooting out of your vehicle?
@john660
@john660 7 жыл бұрын
Great q, Stephen. I'd say I base myself out of my vehicle for 35% of my shooting. The other 65% is either on tours where I'm on foot or in boats, or when I'm on my own in the bush hiking and hiding.
