Update: Drag Tea Served responded with this post kzbin.infoUgkx9P2OsaAWTL9PQp3I1hTqZR3QTmO_lLzg where he addressed some of the points I made. For the 'Editing Mistakes' video, he provided sources privately and updated the video description. All considered, I don't believe this to be a case of plagiarism and that section will be edited out. He also claimed "most of the information in the video was completely inaccurate and/or false", without addressing in detail which receipt were false or inaccurate. Although my tone and point of view are clearly subjective (and questionable, if you wish), the information provided is otherwise accurate and detailed. There was no rebuttal to the question of farmed content, the mistakes showing he didn't consult the source material, the revenue, plagiarism of the article on Nicholas Brendon, or the chart at 2:25:15

An expose about someone where they don’t even actually interview the person? And the person is willing to reach out and discuss it?? Any researcher would jump on that opportunity immediately, so something is up. Sounds like there’s a whole lot of reaching and bitterness happening…

Yeah when someone steals from me I also jump at the opportunity to have a nice chat with them. Like sure, they didn't reach out to me *_before_* stealing from me, but I must be a researcher first and foremost. My wellbeing and self-respect must not get in the way of online randos' expectations.

@@idunnowhatimdoin that’s the thing though, they’re assuming they just stole instead of reaching out and seeing if it was just an oversight. Maybe Matt could have addressed it and changed it if he was just asked (aka given top rpdr the credit in the way that he wanted him to), but he was never given the chance. Also, because he didn’t reach out to Matt, now Matt has the opportunity to expose top rpdr for the exact same garbage… not properly researching, not properly using and crediting sources (Matt himself), which is part of the argument in this “expose” in the first place. If top rpdr has any self respect (and self awareness) for their own reputation, they should have ABSOLUTELY reached out in private about this first.

How it has played out is him putting out a statement in which he takes no accountability regarding either of these and does not apologize. You are a very good video creator and it goes beyond drag race. There's a way to grow your channel and employ other people for editing/translations/social media etc. Without being a "content farm", as long as the quality, integrity and heart is still there. I can see you becoming one of those content creators, not necessairly tied to the run of drag race, which is bound to end at some point.

This video is so tone deaf, you explain how it’s near impossible to have the amount of work that he has but then say that content creators should essentially not be payed nor have any help doing it because they should have a passion for “writing scripts” it genuinely just sounds like you hate the system and Matt for adjusting to it and actually making a living off of KZbin. I love a lot of what you have to say on your channel but you keep complaining about KZbin when you keep posting unappealing videos that have great content but are presented terribly.

There are lots of comments doing nothing except mocking the length of this video or claiming its creator is "jealous": the former is totally irrelevant, the latter is such a reach and still, let's pretend it's true, that doesn't mean the arguments in the video are false. One could be both jealous and correct, newsflash. (Also, it's not lost on me that when people call out bigger creators they are "jealous" and "clout chasing", but when they call out smaller ones they are "bullying". So who exactly is allowed to do call outs?). Why am I not seeing anybody like: "Drag Tea did not plagiarise because X"; "They gave you proper credit and here's proof"; "They were totally transparent about outsourcing most of their work, as shown here"? Why is it "you should have contacted him first, that was MEAN"? I agree that it would have been nice to do so. And? Does that change the content of the video? Top RPDR Videos could be the worst person on Earth with the worst intentions, but if you want to complain about this video you need to argue about the CONTENT of the video, not everything else surrounding it. That is my point!
@hgfhjhgcvjj64768 ай бұрын
@@amethyst6531 You're confused, when someone is accused of something it is the accusers responsibility to prove their own point. It is not our (or Matt's) responsibly to prove their claims wrong. If you bothered reading Matt's side you'd know that he has given credit whenever it's due except on one video which was fixed later. The only thing that suggests he outsourced his work is the sheer amount of content he publishes but it's not really that hard to accomplish if you have enough time on your hands, which Matt does because he admitted to spending 60-70 hours creating content. And they should have contacted him first, if nothing else they could've gotten more information about the situation. But when he reached out to them they just threatened him. And the reason people are saying this is jealousy is because Matt literally just hit 100k subscribers. So it's very convenient that all of these accusations are being made now.

There's enough videos where it's possible and easy enough to prove that content was taken from other sources, creators, etc. with no mention of them. Matt never admitted that on his channel there're videos that are shot for shot, almost word for word copies of some others, including some from this channel. Matt makes videos to make money first and foremost. Nothing exactly wrong with that by itself, but the ways that Matt goes about it are not the best to say the least..... Plagiarism is a BIG problem. This video feels so bitter for no reason. I typically like your videos but this one in particular feels very emotionally charged and relies on speculation. Matt has never claimed to be an original channel or anything. When everyone is reporting on the same exact show, theres only so much you can report on. At the end of the day, all of y'all are taking inspiration from the same show. Hes a recapper, more akin to a news channel or gossip site above all else and its nice to have someone simply compiling all of the ungodly amounts of information and drama into one place. Also, there's no clear evidence of him being a conglomerate and its not impossible for him to be doing it alone since most of his writing is just collecting information to put into one convenient place. There was no need to make this video so long, just present your evidence and go.

Honestly, if I put hours into thoughtful content, and I looked over and saw someone else just reading summaries of other peoples conversations and getting paid a bunch of money to do it while I got squat, I’d also be kind of jealous and annoyed. And saddened that humanity apparently favors substance-less content. Watching one of Matt’s videos with full attention is an insult to one’s intelligence imo. U gotta be studying or sleeping to justify playing that and also just not die of boredom. But ya, it’s not Matt’s fault that most people want his boring and basic content, people need his info, so he’s become the Taylor swift of rpdr KZbin and that’s ok 🤣 I agree there’s a place for him, though it hurts my soul how empty his content is. I honestly think it’s strange tone is half the reason he reads as content farm. But nah, the sad thing is, Dude might just really be that robotic/awkward tho, to the point where he AGGRESSIVELY appears like a content farm. Add in his formulaic and super conventional editing snd narration styles, and his videos feel like KZbin deja vu. Familiar but not quite, also while lacking authenticity and a strong voice. This creates an uncanny valley he winds up in in terms id his content, so people suspect he’s a farm. Mark my worlds, something is off and uncanny Valley here. But I think it might just be …him. Lmfao! Anyway, Top RPDR just needs to find their own niche again and ignore that nerd. People want his recaps and he’s mostly harmless. Worst you can say is he’s boring, derivative, and basic with his content. But all that means is he’s a kinda shitty KZbinr, which are a dime a dozen. What else can they do? 🤷🏻♂️
