to my knowledge they only take so long because contractors simultaneously work on about five projects at a time which leaves many days unaccounted for. Had a contractor do our bathroom.. "one/ two weeks tops" he says, works one day a fortnight for over two months..

we upgraded our radiators in my parents house and in my room we found two tiny pieces of childrens wallpaper from the 1950s that had been kept concealed by the old radiator. i steamed them off the wall and framed them. the house was built 1950, so the paper had been put on when the house was new. the paper had a kitten and a girl horse riding lol

Custom made doesn’t necessarily mean more expensive! I’m a kitchen and bathroom cabinet and closet designer and usually going to local custom shops is significantly less expensive than California closets, Costco, IKEA, etc.!!

My kitchen and bathroom were so much cheaper when I looked at Ikea than the custom stuff I looked at and the look was almost identical to what I wanted. My designer was really surprised at price/quality too. The money we saved paid for new light fixture in the dining room and paint for the bedroom!

"I just want it to be done" I can relate. in 2018 I had my home updated for the first time since it was built in 1976. I was quoted 3 months, it took 6. I camped in the back yard for much of that time. My covered back porch made living outside possible. All my meals were prepared on a propane burner and in my toaster oven. A tent was my "bedroom" They worked on the laundry room last so could wash clothes and I had the utility sink to do dishes in. it was a fun adventure for a while but as the weeks passed I was SO ready for it to be completed. In the end any inconvenience was just that, and the finished product was well worth the wait.

Kelsey, I can only imagine what it must be like to make your house into your own home. I bought a house 2.5 years ago and hoped to do so much of it diy. However, I have multiple sclerosis and severe nerve facial pain on the right side of my head and face and have struggled with these chronic illnesses and thus have not been able to do what I have wanted to do to make my house a home7. Watching this series in particular and the channel as whole has allowed me to live vicariously through you. And this coronavirus has not helped due to my MS and asthma. Therefore, thank you for the channel, it's diy components, and, of course, this making your house a home, Kelsey. Please keep the videos coming especially as we are home bound through at least April. Loving what you are doing!!!!

I too was confused but I think there are some safety rules about windows in a bedroom having to be big enough so that you can climb out of them in the event of a fire, but I don't know where I heard that so don't quote me.

Hey Kelsey, it is a great choice to have light colored grout (idk how to spell it hehe english is my 2nd language). But the reason for that is that it is important to be able to tell if there is moss growing in the small dents between the tiles.
