EXPOSING THE DEV SHORTCUTS in these UNCLEARED Levels

Had a lot more difficult finding decent quality uncleared levels. Instead, I just found a few with dev routes at the beginning of the level smh.

I played a pretty precise NSMBU level the other night. Was relatively challenging and had a terrible boss fight. I still intended to like the level. Checked clear time...6 seconds. Found the block and dropped a big boo

Just realized that Bowser has "tells" for his movements. If he's going to shoot fireballs, you can see fire/smoke forming in his mouth beforehand. Otherwise he jumps.

What makes an Uncleared Level uncleared: -Long and boring. -Crazy and has no reason. -Spamming items, bosses or blocks. -Tight timer. Last and probably the worst, -Dev exits. (Some of these levels he played are fairly good. Not going to lie.)

@@SeisoYabai Rule #1 of game design (in this case level design) you can't create a good player experience if you don't thoroughly test it, for that reason, one should never create a level they themselves cannot beat, unless they have someone else doing the testing. And before you mention it, no, testing every section individually isn't enough, the section themselves could be good, but if they are not arranged correctly and built having each other in mind, the final level will be bad

We're just here to have a fun time playing some variety Mario; I dont think game design is really that critical here. You're 100% right in any other case though

​@@SeisoYabai From the point of the maker, of course, make whatever level makes you happy, you are free. as a player though, a "bad" level is statistically less fun, and you could want to avoid it, a dev exit indicates that a level might be less fun, for the reasons I stated in my previous comment

It doesn’t show them at the top of your first clear list because it displays them in the chronological order that the courses were uploaded. World records, however, display the levels in the order you received the world record.

Levels in the 1st clear tab are sorted by when they were uploaded, not by when they were cleared with the most recent uploads being at the top. So any older levels that you get a 1st clear on will be farther down on the list.

@@ilovecairns5181 So nothing can be expected out of the new/uncleared level section as they can be the next best thing or still hot garbage and is a random experience. So having a can be pretty common- an easy way to find out, is if the level is long but the clear time is small

Im thinking of a possible level idea... make some garbage that has so many different paths and almost all lead to immediate death or a softlock and then make a fake-actual path that seems to lead somewhere ending it with a trick that looks almost possible but it is just impossible to do it. And hide the real exit into a seemingly wrong path where people would just start over like falling into a pit with hidden blocks above you and then waiting like a full minute there for a P switch to activate and a bomb falling on the blocks freeing you and leading to the actual goal
