HAWK TUAH LAWYER RESPONSE: “I watched the video. Just to clarify-the 50% of net proceeds mentioned was from the allocation of tokens (10%, locked for one year, with 3-year vest thereafter). And wouldn’t be realized until if/when she sold them. Out of her 50% she would have to pay her non-crypto team too, so in reality, she would likely only hold 3.5% of the tokens withdrawn (if at all) on the above schedule.”

I don't know enough about crypto to say whether this is illegal, but I do know that plenty of actual, respected, investment funds set up off shore subsidiaries for tax benefits. One may argue it's still morally bad, but it's a perfectly legal tactic that increases investor returns, and therefore the fees that the fund collects.

Unfortunately it’s a super common practice- tons of shell companies are incorporated in the caymans for a handful of reasons, none of them good. @TheBaldOne29 күн бұрын
That's one of the problems, the shame. If people were more open about talking about it maybe "normies" wouldn't fall for this. I was scammed for 5k in a "pension fund" whose fees were more than the liquidity it could do - even in the best possible scenario. At the time I didn't know anything about pension funds, I was in a new country looking for something to start up my savings and was contacted by a "financial adviser" who took me out for coffee and stuff and showed me all the graphs with growth and stuff, but failed me to show the small print, and me being naive didn't read it properly too. It was only after 10 months in - and around 5k deposited - that I started to look around online and saw that there were tons of complaints about that particular fund and that company about that practice. Basically it was not a "pension fund" but was being sold as one, obviously the company denied this when I closed the account and attributed it to the advisor who are all contractor salesmen and get paid commissions, so it's in their interest to sell more and more funds. One of the caveats of this account, that was explained to me at the time to be honest (but you think, "it's a pension fund I'm not going to cash it before that") was that in the first 5 years I couldn't stop putting money in (or even reduce payments) and only could cash out 50% after that losing the rest, so either I would double down or take a hit and those 10 month deposits were basically gone. I decided obviously to cut my losses because there was no way I could break out even, the fees each year would eat into my earnings, so basically my money would grow very little after fees and I would end up cashing out only 50% of what I put in. I now tell this to everyone that moves here, be careful with cold calls from financial advisors, I some ignored my advice, but some did their due diligence and noped out. I know now that this sounds unbelievable, how could someone have fallen for this, but bear in mind that I came from a small and poor country where pension funds are not even a thing, the guy was well spoken, nice, friendly, and extremely accommodating. He felt like my friend in a new country where I was alone, that's what scammers do. I was very ashamed at the time, even embarrassed and if not for my wife I don't think I would have the courage to speak to anyone. The day I realised the math didn't add up my heart sunk, I couldn't sleep or eat until the day I cancelled the payments which obviously they make you do in the worst possible way - in person in their office after tons of meetings and calls trying to discourage you to do so. It was a very bad time.

literally nothing in this entire story is "gaslighting". Or alternately, we could say that "gaslighting" has no meaning anymore, since everyone uses it to describe any and everything they dont like. It is supposded to mean the very specific act of saying a thing/creating a concept, and then later telling someone else thet THEY said the thing or THEY did the thing or whatever. It has nothing to do with crypto scams or people being generally shite. If they came out and said "well what did you expect? YOU told US that you wanted to buy useless nothing, we just did what YOU wanted" Then it would be gaslighting.

It’s frustrating. These scams wouldn’t happen if there weren’t gullible people still buying into them. Every crypto investor should be well-educated in crypto-related scams by now, especially considering how incredibly volatile the market can be. When I watch Zilla’s original CryptoZoo video and I see the people who got all wrapped up in it, I feel terrible for them as that was one of the first major pump and dump schemes backed by a public figure… but these days there’s no excuses for getting conned. This is why crypto needs better oversight and regulation, though I’m not sure that’s going to happen anytime soon. It just really goes against basic human nature to not learn from such serious mistakes and continue repeating them. Edit: Also, I’m not accepting Zilla’s new investor ignorance reasoning. Sorry, but before you open your wallet and get involved in something like this, you need to educate yourself. Certainly everyone who invested had at least heard of the numerous crypto scams, even if they weren’t involved.

not sure you will ever see this, but i’m an attorney. i do civil litigation now, but used to work in asset protection. when someone talks about a “foundation,” they would likely be right when saying no one owns the foundation. what you should be asking, is who are the TRUSTEES, and who are the BENEFICIARIES of the foundation. the trustee runs the foundation, and the beneficiaries are the recipients of whatever assets the foundation has. the foundation/trust model is a classic form of asset protection and “tax management” - it lets you benefit from assets without directly owning them. i am betting hawk tuah girl is a beneficiary of the foundation.
