This is definitely an upgrade over the old one. I could never force myself to put those stickers over mutliple bricks, but that can be solved by moving the 1x4 brick all the way to the back and putting the stickers on the row of 1x6 slightly more to the front of the bus instead. I like all the small changes to make the bus a little more neat and strict with the coloring. It maybe could use a tiny bit more structrural detailing, instead of only the stickers, but I'm struggling to think of what that would be. Thanks for the upload!
@MinifigJez5 ай бұрын
Ahhhh, I grew up with Lego from the late 70's and throughout the 80's, so I often had to apply stickers across multiple pieces, as that's just how the sets were built. So I don't have an aversion to doing it! But your solution would work perfectly. Thanks for the compliment on the colouring details, I understand that Lego can't always avoid it, but when the pieces are available in other colours, sometimes it baffles me!!! I thought about some structural detailing of the seat levels, but couldn't think of a worthwhile improvement without completely remaking it, and I prefer to do minor MODs that others could easily do themselves. If you're interested, there's a City set Modifications play list on my channel, with lots of city sets being modified. This is a cool set (definitely one of the better city sets this year) and the modifications are just top notch. It looks much more proportionate with the extension. I think you may have been able to rework the top to have the stickers properly on the 1x6 bricks but it probably would require more added bricks rather than trying to use all of the ones from the set. I do have this set on my wanted list. I may have to come back to this to review the updates.
@MinifigJez4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the compliments, and yes, I agree it's proportions now look much better. Yes, there would have been ways to sort the stickers, but I was having trouble keeping its structural integrity, with the 4x6 in the middle. it needed the bricks to hold it firmly to teh other plates. If I shuffled them round I would have probably needed a few plates underneath to hold the upper deck togather. As always, thanks for commenting.

Thanks. You should go for it. The set it's too expensive, and none of the parts are rare. The chair is probably the most unusual part, in that colour.
@pinobluevogel64585 ай бұрын
This is a good example of a set that can probably be found at a good discount, since it will be sold by other retailers than just Lego stores. It shouldn't be too hard to find at 25% or more discounted, which is an 'okay' price for a reasonably large vehicle and a bunch of minifigs that aren't too bad either. Also, you can just get the instructions, build the bus with all the common parts and replace stuff like the chairs with brown ones. (which is probably more realistic anyways) I think I found those on PAB some time, got about 12 laying around.
@MinifigJez5 ай бұрын

yes looks better, but i think in a city-layout the bus is a little bit too narrow. 7wide would be better, it would certainly be very difficult to build Just the windscreen and the rear flap for the ‘engine compartment’ I found this to be the same with the 60386 recycling truck. A bit too small^^
@MinifigJez3 ай бұрын
@@brickheaven6037 I think it depends on the type of city you have. Mine has a lot of older sets, so I have a lot of 4-wide vehicles. Plus I’m currently only using the new road plates, which only allow 7 ish studs per lane, so a 6 stud wide vehicle looks in proportion. (I used to buy all the speed champions until they went 8-wide, and now they don’t fit!) I think for builders who have wider roads, who add SNOT bricks to the sides of the road plates, they could DEFINITELY do with using wider vehicles, and this at 8 studs would then look awesome! Just not for me personally. Thanks for commenting, it’s great to hear others views on sets.
@TheMonyarm2 ай бұрын
I'm planning on making mine Wider at some point, cause it seems weird to have a 6-wide bus when my cars are 8-wide.
@MinifigJez2 ай бұрын
That makes sense. I only have 4 and 6 wide cars for my LEGO City, so mine looks fine. I also use standard road plates, so 6 is the maximum width I can accommodate. Th only 8-wide cars I have are speed champions and I don't use them in LEGO City situations!

I like that much better than the stock set. 😁 Do you have a list of the additional pieces needed for the mod?
@MinifigJez4 ай бұрын
Sorry, I don't have a list of parts. I just took the bus apart and grabbed a part that was 4 studs long for each "layer" If you watch the vid though, you should be able to make a not of them, eg black 1x4 plates for the bottom, then a black 4x6 plate for teh floor (that's as far as I can remember!!!) edit: I just thought, I show ALL the parts at 2:26, so that would be an easy point to make a list from - I hope that helps.

@dariuszkucharzyk42382 ай бұрын
Amy idea hiw to get it wider:)?
@MinifigJez2 ай бұрын
First of all, you'd need to find an 8-wide windscreen piece to use. But then, it should just be using wider plates for the floors and then adding in extra bricks/plates on teh front and back to make it 2 studs wider. I use Lego road plates so I don;t like mohave vehicles wider than 6 studs, so I've never made anything 8-wide before. Have you tried searching re-brickable for any 8-wide busses that you could get ideas from, to apply to this set?

@MinifigJez3 ай бұрын
Larger how? Did you mean wider? longer? or Taller? I think the extra 4 studs makes it long enough, and I don't like my Lego City vehicles to be wider than 6 studs, or they don't fit on the Lego road plates properly, so I wouldn't;t want to widen it at all. So the only option is to go Harry Potter style and make it a triple decker !!!!!!! Thanks for commenting.

But making those joints in Lego would be a big challenge !!!!!!!
@pinobluevogel64585 ай бұрын
It is a great idea and we see those busses with joints in the middle all the time in larger cities. It might be a slightly more technical challenge, but certainly interesting to try. @MinifigJez5 ай бұрын
You're absolutely right, extending it by 1mm is pointless. That's why I decided to extend it by 4 whole studs, which was definitely not pointless and looks much more in proportion to the UK sightseeing busses that I know. That big double door is so ugly, don’t understand why lego choses that
@MinifigJez4 ай бұрын
On a bus like that, it would definitely have a double door in the middle, but IRL it would fold in, instead of open out. So I can accept it's look when closed, but opening it up, makes it look not that great.
