Thanks for all the great Peep Show content past and present! Just wanted to drop this little truth bomb on you. In the episode 'Holiday' aka Marks stag on the barge. They use the same bit of the canal which was used in the escape from the farm house scene at the start of 28 Weeks Later. In the film, they jump in a boat at a similar point in the canal to when Mark and jez float past the farmhouse which can seen in the background. (search 28 weeks later escape scene)

Might as well share this here [even if I'm tempting negative Dobby comments]: Channel 4 in 2008 was keen to launch a 'female peep show' [similar to how Drifters was billed as the 'female Inbetweeners']. Having considered an all new cast, they eventually decided to use Dobby and pair her with a new flatmate. Isy Suttie said in 2021 they did get as far as Sam&Jesse writing some scenes/scripts and trying out actresses as her co-star at some point [Joise Long was one of them] but in her own words she 'didn't think it would happen' [as even she was a bit dubious of a spin off without Mark+Jez] and it fizzled out. Personally, I wouldn't have minded them doing a pilot to see if it would work [partly as one of the things I know irritates Dobby to some, her relationship with Mark, wouldn't be in the series] and maybe they could have got Fresh Meat writer Penelope Skinner involved. Sam Bain is one of the people involved in that 'female Peep Show USA' idea so he's clearly interested in exploring this concept further in some form.
@davidz25622 жыл бұрын
Josie Long would have been an awful choice. Drifters & Pulling are great; I don't know why neither were popular. Most people I mention those to haven't heard of them.

Dobby changes greatly in personality & dress sense between s7 & 8, then again between s8 & 9. That's highly improbable for a thirtysomething.
@harrypalmer73652 жыл бұрын
I'd have to disagree. I think it's quite usual behaviour for someone going under a significant change in their life, such as moving to a different continent, especially when they're perhaps wanting to reinvent themselves to put distance between an unhappy period in their past.
@davidz25622 жыл бұрын
@@harrypalmer7365 That doesn't explain her being substantially different in s8 compared to 6 & 7. She knows from first meeting Mark what he's like & how unpopular he is, Johnson being the only person in the office to side with him after Sophie leaves him. Dobby has only herself to blame for starting & continuing a relationship which was clear from the start couldn't work.
@gridlo2 жыл бұрын
Maybe she became a jaded new Yorker faster than most. I think it was the writers wanting to wrap up the love triangle plot thread quickly so they just made him super annoying and her super annoyed.

It's not feasible that Dobby & Gregory would fly in from 3,000 miles away to attend the wedding of Hans & Molly. Dobby's 'connection' to Hans is that he's her ex-boyfriend's friend's other friend. Molly is a complete stranger to her. Hans & Molly are both complete strangers to Gregory. Imagine being in Gregory's position: your girlfriend suggests you & she attend a wedding, 3,000 miles away, of a couple whom you've never met! She tells you that she'd love to go because although she doesn't know the bride at all, the groom is her ex-boyfriend's friend's other friend!
@mat54732 жыл бұрын
except for the fact that Dobby is from London... makes every sense she would be coming for a visit anyways, so not necessarily that she flew out specifically for the wedding.
@davidz25622 жыл бұрын
@@mat5473 She's not - her accent makes it clear that she's from Northern England. With JLB having closed down, her relationship with Mark over, her ex Simon in NYC & Gerard dead, she has no connection to London, let alone to Norfolk, where Hans & Molly's wedding takes place.

@@davidz2562 you know she has probably had other friends, like people from the “website gang” who didn’t move or characters we see of screen and probably thought the weeding was a good excuse to go or the uk, well that’s if she was a real person at the end of the day she is a character in a script and all out of all the problems from the episode that fact that dobby is there is quite a minor one
@davidz25622 жыл бұрын
@@number_1_edward771 There's no indication that she has any friends once Gerard is dead. Any acquaintances would be very peripheral to her life. It makes no sense that Dobby is in Gregory's Beard. She doesn't have an active role in it.

The series of peep show I mean of course. Your series of videos have been absolutely fantastic Andrew and I can't wait to see what you turn to next.
@jamesatkinsonja2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I've always argued they should have done a '1 hour special' instead of a full series to wrap it up. Really found it hard to care about Joe+Megan and April+ Angus as we all knew how it would end which made those plots feel pointless [and Johnston only gets about 5 mins screen time in the series]. Still, plenty of funny moments-the legend that is Super Hans [MVP of these later series] especially.

@@jamesatkinsonja Johnson & Sophie are underused in s8 & 9, but it's more difficult to fit them in after JLB closes.
