So in Australia we used to have cavalry called the light horse. Now I don't know if it's a myth or not, but light horse member were supposedly tasked with plucking the feathers of an emu while mounted as a show of riding skill they weren't meant to kill the bird. After getting them they placed the in their slouch hat as a symbol they were excellent riders. Fast forward to modern times members of Australia's army cavalry units or roles now wear emu feathers in their slouch hat. The officers don't just wear them everyone does so long as they are in a cavalry role or attached to a cavalry unit. Just thought someone might want to get clarification on the feathered hats thing it was never "for the officers."

That sounds suspiciously like something Wile E. Coyote would try against Road Runner. And we all know how that would turn out.

Point of clarification about the wearing of emu plumes. At the time they we worn by the Australian Light Horse which were mounted infantry and they were worn by all ranks. In the modern Australian Army they are still worn by all ranks in units of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps (RAAC). Incidentally we call them 'Kangaroo feathers'.
@tobybartels84263 жыл бұрын
That's wise. You wouldn't want to piss off the emus again. Just let them think they're from kangaroos instead.

It was great to actually see the inclusion of the First Nation people (Indigenous) within the contents and how they were impacted with the war and White Australian Policy since even Australia has avoided their involvement in historically marked times. Thank you. This small token means a lot 😊

I remember this documentary. Emus were way more persistent and vicious than ostriches and they took no crap from humans.

When we last left Australia, a horse thief in armor had very nearly toppled the government. Let’s see how the country fairs against these very large birbs.

2:27 While I do feel a bit bad for the Australian farmers, who probably didn't have any say in shafting the Aboriginals, yeah, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't gonna relish in the deserved humiliation of the Austrailian country and especially government.

I'm a farmer in West Australia right on the edge of the land Emus are still an issue, what makes Australia very unique is the boom bust cycle for native animals as well as humans When there's good years in the deserts the numbers breed up to massive numbers, when the dry comes you either move or die so these big numbers head to the coast It's not uncommon for literally 100s of thousands of animals to die being unable to make it to the next water source This is why our 2 main animals are high speed long distance creatures, enough survive so the next wet cycle (10 ish yr cycke) they'll head back out into the desert and breed back up These days we use 6ft tall fences to keep emus out but they'll literally throw them selves at the fence till they rio them selves uo like a zombie movie It's not un common for emus to get over the fence by using dead emus as a stepping block We shoot them 22.250 hollow points or a shotgun near point blank chasing them on a pickup or can am side by side Their feathers are so thick solid rounds slow too much amd don't any real damage
