Hi thank you so much for saying. I'm glad my videos are of some use! I try only to review quality products, so i don't waste my viewer's time watching garbage.

Say Heah, and Happy New Years, I'm planning of getting the TASK C, I like the larger TASK but I have no need for a serrated blade, and besides, the TASK C I think will work wood much better for the wood's I live in. If I was in the Jungle like where you were, or even in the Jungles in Venezuela where I was born, defenetly I would go with the Combo edge, But comfortable in the Buckeye Nation, I think I made a good choice, Go Buckeyes !!!

Nice Video.Can you make a review of the cudeman mt5?
@BushCampingTools
@BushCampingTools 9 жыл бұрын
Flaschen SammlerYT HI thanks, yes the Extrema Ratio Task was really kick ass nice and practical for serious bushcraft and cutting tasks, just like ER say about it. I haven't planned on reviewing the MT5 but I did review their MT which I thought was a nice little knife, a little heavy maybe but strong as and really stayed sharp after some beating.

Nice video, very informative. As you state in the narration the blade tapers from 6mm towards the tip. Can you tell me the approximate thickness of the blade near the tip? Is it rugged enough for say drilling into wood to construct a fire board or digging into wood for grubs etc? Many thanks
@BushCampingTools
@BushCampingTools 9 жыл бұрын
+Darren Turner I think that the tip is maybe a bit thin for that but generally the fire board would be of soft wood so I think so in that case actually. I idon'thave the knife in front of me right now but will send you the dimensions and also do this test next week and get back to you. When I think what you can do with a cheap MIC kitchen knife with a thin blade and it won't break, then I'll be surprised if I report back that the TASK failed, so bear with me and stay tuned, maybe I will post a video of this, yes that's a good idea! Thanks for giving it to me!

+Bush Camping Tools thank you for your prompt reply. Thinking of getting this knife at some point. I was about to pull the trigger but ordered the Fulcrum instead. Look forward to your video

Hi , no probs. Yes the Fulcrum well u will have no problems with using the tip of this knife to drill out holes or make fire boards. I like the fact the TASK has a nice chill that really helps apply power for carving tasks (no pun intended!)Due to the thickness of the TASK it is certainly great (like ER says) at cutting and slicing stuff up plus I made some thinned down lawyer cane (Calamus sp) for a friction "cord" for fire making easily with the TASK, something where a shallow angled grind excels at.

How easy to sharpen it is and what's the edge retention compaired to D2 steel?
@BushCampingTools
@BushCampingTools 5 жыл бұрын
Hi sorry for the late reply. It is easy to sharpen. I don't have any D2 blades that are hardened to only 58 most of mine are over 60 HRC but even then I don't feel that they are difficult to sharpen. The thing about ER knives is that the edges are basically convex, so one should (although one can change the edge profile of course) sharpen them as a convex edge, which I do but I believe others simply re-profile them to a flat beveled edge. Thanks for watching. BTW this is very under rated knife. One of my viewers has had his one for over 3 years and loves it and uses it a lot. It's alike a bush crafting knife on steroids.

Hi, after 2 years do you still recommend this knife? After watching your vid i fell in love with this knife. Only thing that worries me is the tip. I stab alot with my knives and i am curious if the tip is strong and pointy enough to do the job. The job being searching for grubs in very dead soft logs. Thinkin' of buying this knife as an main all around outdoor knife. I don't baton my main knife, or chop huge logs with it. Do you think it will do a good job? Or do you recommend some other knife from extrema ratio?

Hi thanks for asking this question. The short answer is I certainly think this is a good knife. Provided you don't want to lever with it. The tip is thin but hey how many times have you broken or bent even a cheapo kitchen knife tip? I bet none? It cuts very well and u saw how easily even on very huge and thick palm bracts I could simply cut it without the aid of a machete. Unfortunately though, your version of stabbing and or digging might be certainly different from mine and without you actually seeing the knife in person, then it might be a hard for you to gauge this. In soft rotting logs, a thin tip would give you good "feeling" and usually, in my experience doing this very thing, the grubs are located in the softer wood (Ok country dependent-where are you?) I think this knife is well suited to sensible bushcraft tasks. If u think u would be a bit heavy handed then the Dobermann IV will deliver all that you require and more and the tip is much thicker but not too thick. But the Dobermann IV will never cut as well as the ER TASK. There is a newer model out bu it has an upper guard and that for me isn't practical (I cut mine off on the Fulcrum S I own) but the blade is slightly thicker. Check their website for details there. BTW I've never used that model. There is one viewer here on my channel, I must find his name and he has had a TASK for I think he said 3 years and loves it for bushcraft. I am planning on taking this Knife into the wilds soon to show what can and can't be done with it again. Also see my tip strength tests with this TASK knife. Hope tat sort of helps.

Bush Camping Tools Yeah this helps alot. Thanks, you're a great guy. I live in Poland, so we have european type forest here. I don't know how to explain it better, i bet you know what type of woods I'm talking about. I can't wait to see another vid with the TASK in use. I saw the Task J and i don't like the desert camo, the top guard, and lack of serrations. The Dobermann IV is great lookin' blade, but i don't like broad and long blades. I like that you review knives that are somewhat uncommon to see on youtube. And that you actually use them. Thanks again :)

Hi thanks for your kind words, yes I am familiar with the types of tree species to be found in your country. I will indeed be making a video (maybe more than one??/) using this knife in boreal-forests within the coming months. Yes The lack of serrations, I also didn't like, forgot to mention that.

Bush Camping Tools I forgot to mention, all my kitchen knives have broken tips, but not because of me(alright, i snapped the tip on one by accident), just the people i live with don't know that knife and screwdriver are two different things.
