This was a completely superfluous build. There was literally no point to put in 3 of any type of GPU in that system. Performance improves minimally with more then 2 GPU's at any one time. Top of that you're just wasting the hardware, there's nothing any general consumer does that takes this level of power. I'm all for enthusiast builds, my PC is around $5000, but unless you're working for fucking Pixar, these levels of parts are just excessive.

The Ultimate Walrus The price is not my gripe, I could give a shit. It's the excessive parts that are just wasteful at that point. There's no reason for anyone to ever need that kind of computing power unless you're simulating the start of the universe. This computer is more powerful than some home-model supercomputers. (Yes, those exist.) What's this PC gonna be used for? Certainly not applied sciences. It's a waste! Regardless of price, it's just grossly excessive.

Omg no don't spread the thermal paste out, it will create air bubbles just put like a pea of thermal paste and then it will even out without air bubbles....
@tsmwildturtle18939 жыл бұрын
Slawek Wozniak +1 Agreed.
@___Robin___9 жыл бұрын
+Slawek Wozniak it's simple you have your cpu and the heatsink/waterblock put over it. Since the two materials don't perfectly cover each other the heat won't be perfectly dissipated from cpu to heatsink/waterblock. The area between the heatsink/waterblock and cpu, the interface, consists out of air and air is one of the worst conductors of heat. Therefore to have optimal results. For a heat conduction the material between the two materials, the interface, should be made out of a material which is good at conducting heat and that's the use of thermal compound. Many manufacturers already pre apply thermal compound so you don't need to do it yourself. The reason why spreading thermal compound isn't adviced is because there is a heat spreader on the cpu and when having too much it will get messy around the cpu. When doing a pea size or rice size method the heat spreader will cover the thermal compound after a while over the entire heatsink/waterblock. Many just show that when you put it on the cpu and then put the heatsink on and remove it, it will have an imperfect pattern of thermal compound on the surface. Mounting pressure is just the first step in spreading the thermal compound. If you spread the entire ting you risk the mounting pressure getting thermal compound all over the socket and imperfections in your swiping causing air bubbles.
@TheCJWGamer969 жыл бұрын
to the pea size dob of thermal paste I suggest u go watch a careyholzmen video he very well explains that don't matter wat way you pick
@Macatho9 жыл бұрын
+TSM Wildturtle Do you think she cares? Do you think it matters? She could go without thermal paste and it wouldn't matter.
@Goldenjews12349 жыл бұрын
***** IF you were put dot of thermal paste on a cpu and flatten it out with the cpu fan and tighten it would make thin layer of the thermal layer of the paste. In theory thinner layer allow more heat to penetrate through then if you put an evenly spread of paste on the cpu. On puget system graph chart doesn't show much data. So if you gotten better temps your way then continue to do it. The reason you want consistency when building a computer is that you want almost to none bottleneck in your computer, correct? When I've built my first computer I didn't really take the time to put my computer, I can tell there are bottle necks especially having gtx 460 v2 with a fx 4300. It just isn't like oh I put this part with this part hoping it will work. You get temperatures on your cpu compared to a fx 4300.

It doesn't need to be spread like on a slice of bread all over the borders. You only need to put a small amount in the middle, the CPU will expand it when mounted. Or, if you are very picky, you can use abrasive cream to polish it until it becomes shiny chrome and then use even less thermal paste.

@l__t__l5089 жыл бұрын
+freddy mcclanahan it will be outdated well before 10 years, the Titan is equivalent to about a 380 and it is only 3 generations old, down to about a fifth of its value. The CPU still has a lot cores it after 5 years Intel CPUs are likely to be about 50% more efficient and will probably be able to reach 5 GHz stock, I would be surprised if her CPU could hit 4. So it would be clocked around 20% higher and instructions per clock would be 50% and 8 cores with 16 threads would be standard. In 5 years time this PC would cost around $1500 with the water looping being worth about $750 of those dollars.

1 rad...3 titan x 15k and only plays cs go and lol, this has being said many times already, but its a complete waste, you bought an overpowered pc to play minimum requirement games, you should be ashamed of yourself and so should be intel.

Spreading the thermal paste like that causes bubbles and inconsistencies in heat transfer. The best way to cover that processor is to place a line or an X and let the pressure of the block spread it evenly.

this pc is not 15 Grand i just calculated all the parts, even the cables and i've come to a price of 9467 Dollars! if you add the hourly fee of the pcshop, then it will get around 10k and no more! oh and btw, this pc takes 90 minutes to build even with removing the old coolers from the gpus and fitting the new waterblocks on it! and the work they have done, except from the cable routing was a horrible job! it hurts to see such expensive parts been handled without a care! besides my critique this is an awesome build, have fun with it Kitty!

The worst thing about having it super custom and built hard specifically for it's design is when a new platform/video card comes out.. you can't replace things

I'd love to do a high end build (not 15K) but I really don't know that I do anything to justify the components. My single 780 GTX and i5 2500K running at 4.0 GHz runs everything at 1080p with everything maxed out (I may turn off AA for something like Metro). Gaming wise, what would need more power besides just upgrading to a 4K tv/monitor?

So, just wondering, how fast does the electric meter on the back of your house spin?

Doesn't rain get in if there's no roof on the top? That's a weird case, but I like the glass front. Seems a bit low on rad space, 4 components but only 360 of rad. But I guess it's fine. I'd like to do SLI and raid0 as well, but they are just extra complications, and knowing my luck something would go wrong, so I'm sticking with single gpu and non-raid ssds for now. Nice computer, I'll have it if she gets bored with it.

If the liquid is blue, isn't it easier to see on white? I know water shows better on colored sheets, but its allready colored so on white it would show just fine. I know it would make good shade in blue too, but still...

What's with the spreading of thermal paste? It's been the standard to put a rice/pea sized grain in the centre and let the tightening of the heatsink take care of the spreading.
