Just a thought, but if you reverse the grater blade to cut in the push stroke, it might be less tiring for you. Also, when my late mum who was a chiropodist got a bit older, I bought her a small detail sander with a pack of the Velcro coarse sanding pads. She found on the two people she treated for EPPK that coarse, then medium then fine grit made short work of the thickest hard skin as long as she used a wet cloth between applications to make sure the patient’s foot didn’t get friction burned. it's is where her skin transitions from palmar-plantar to regular skin, and luckily it is not irritated or painful for her

nope, at least not any more than other people. it just is a bunch of dead skin, not fungus or anything that smells
