Anyone up for camping in -30C, then? 😜 A question I got a lot on Instagram was "did you have any heaters there?" and the answer is... nope! It's pretty raw and basic out there, although those pancakes tasted pretty luxurious at the time 😁 Trips like this always make you appreciate the luxuries we take for granted in life: from running water to actual toilets. I always come out feeling very lucky and privileged! Anyhow - hope you enjoyed this glimpse into Antarctic base camp life and see you next week for the big climbing film!

Watch the KZbin channel of Lorenzo Barone. He cross the yakutia by bike. 2000km on the coldest road of the world. Some days at -50°C or less. And if you have something to absolutely avoid in place like this is to sweat, or you will die.

Wow! The costs of the Mount Vinson expedition ranges from $34,000 to $50,000. Generally, in this price the following is included: Airport transfers while in Punta Arenas, Chile Flights from Punta Arenas to Antarctica and back Flights from Union Glacier to Vinson Base Camp and back Meals and tents in Antarctica Group climbing and camping equipment Speciality guide The celebration dinner back at Mount Vinson Base Camp Add on the personal clothing and specialized required gear (cost estimated. north of $5K) permits, flights to Chile, accident insurance etc. This climb is dangerous too, support for emergencies is days away in most cases. This was a really big deal for Eva, I congratulate her for her courage and ability for undertaking this adventure oh, and lest we forget, she filmed it too! Thanks for taking us along.

Simply amazing !! I used to climb mountains in my early 20's specially in winter and in the snow. -15 C was about the lowest I experienced with it's associated wind chill. I had a simple single layer tent, one sleeping bag (not down filled) and a down outer coat. I can only appreciate what a harsh environment you are in Eva. I am in awe of what you are doing. What an experience!!Take care and be safe.

We're close enough here in Australia, that some have friends who have worked at our bases, resupplied by ship or been crew on vessels travelling to the Islands and mainland areas of Antarctica. No one ever complained, ever. Their stories were mesmerising and inspiring. Eva, you are also bringing this to the many who once had a dream of being there. Thanks 😊

The rainbow in the beginning was so pretty! Absolutely my favorite thing about super cold weather: the rainbows in the air and the diamond dust. Literally the only thing I really miss about Alaska. Also it blows me away that in the summer there it’s almost as cold as Canada gets in the depths of winter. Brr! Good thing that sleeping bag is so warm! I get cold in my 0 degree sleeping bag when it’s in the 30s.

Awesome adventure Eva. Not done the Antarctic yet, but been camping below minus 20 in a storm for a week in the arctic (Svalbard dog sledding). Those are luxury toilets you have Eva. Our first jobs on arriving wherever we were camping each evening were : build snow walls to protect tent from the wind, erect tent and dig our toilet pit, piling up the snow to make a windbreak. Exposing your privates in that wind & cold is painful ! That climb sounds epic Eva - can't wait !
