I had a landlord once, he said because of all the improvements we made, he needed to raise the rent because the apt was worth more. We took him too court and won, but he was so miserable after that we moved anyway. So we were able to undo most of the improvements and put the apt back the same way it was rented to us. It still looked better than when we rented it, but not as nice as we had it. Moved out and he said we wrecked his apt. Went to court again. Had taken before and after pictures both times. We won again because even though we put the apt back the way we found it, it still looked better because we fixed damaged things that should have been repaired before it was rented out. He actually had to pay us for all the things we repaired for him. So even if a bad landlord always take before and after pictures and keep all your receipts. And that closet really looks great now. XO, MaCenna if I had money I’d hire you ASAP! Maybe consider starting a business. Or perhaps reach out to professional moving companies to partner with at first. Their clientele who are moving into a new space can work with you on the design and placement of items and it can be worked into the actual moving/arranging of everything in the new space according to your design. 🤔

Would love the cost breakdown on this, I really appreciate when you include that in your other DIY videos. We rent and improvements/alterations are a constant thought in the back of my mind. We added so much to our last rental because we thought we’d be there long term, unfortunately the landlord had to sell and we weren’t in a position to buy. Great video! Not only a successful makeover, but also a display of incredible attention to detail! That special little shelf covering the rod made my jaw drop. "Bag in a bag" storage trick is something I picked up from KonMari and I must admit it works wonders. If I may suggest something: try to elevate the back rows of those deep shoe shelves e.g. by putting the shoes on top of some boxes - this way you will see everything better. All the best!
