Grandmas house is not a dumping ground or storage facility no matter how sweet and kind grandma is! Don’t be selfish, and take your stuff and don’t make your grandma a hoarder! Great video! This is a problem in many families I think. There's that one person who is super sweet (usually grandma but not always, I'm that person in my family and I'm second to youngest) that everyone brings their extra stuff that doesn't work in their current home but feel they want to hang on to for safekeeping for someday and they leave it with that person because they're nice and can't say no to there family. Then out of sight out of mind and they also don't realize other family is doing the same thing and then it becomes a burden for grandma because hard to clean around everyone else's stuff 😑

As a home care therapist I recommend her phone hung up on the wall in the basement be move lower in case of a fall. Even if she could get the phone handle down the number dialing is on the other piece. Something for many people to think about for phones upstairs and downstairs. I have even come across rotary phones still. Nice job guys. Love your grandma's northern accent and cat shirt!!

I bet Grandma is so grateful for your help! It's hard to accept that there are things I can't physically do anymore and I don't want to admit it by asking for help. It brings me to tears when my son and daughter-in-law do projects for me, usually without even asking. By doing this project for her you did much more than clean and paint. You eased her mind more than you can understand.

Fantastic! I hate bugs, spiderwebs, etc., too! What a difference you have made clearing out everyone's storage items, empty boxes, expired paint, and all things that didn't need to be stored. This made me cry. This reminded me of when me and my daughter cleaned my grandmas house. My grandma lives with me now and she’s 90 at the end of the month. So many elderly people need help. I’m soo glad she has you and Bobby to help her knock that all out. It makes a difference to their lives. Stubborn is an age thing lol. We’ll get there too lol. I really loved this ❤

I like what you said to family storing their stuff in Grandma's basement: if you haven't needed it enough to store it at your own house, then you can probably get rid of it. Awesome. You did a huge amount of work! You don't even need curtains-- she didn't have them closed. Or even just apply translucent window film.

Great job on Grandma's basement, Cambriea and Bobby! Now that the paneling is clean it could be brought back to life with a product called Liquid Gold. It's a spray on and wipe off product that nourishes the paneling and leaves a nice shine. Maybe another family member would be willing to do that job.

You are so right about your dogs being happier at home. I used to be a pet sitter that would stay at people's houses when they were away and their pets would be so happy being in their own environment and having their usual routine. Also certain stores that sell paint do take old paint to be recycled. In my area Sherwin Williams and Ace Hardware. They may have something similar in that area. Suggest using Murphy's Oil soap to wash the paneling. It nourishes and oils wood while cleaning it.

Yes, Take your things from your parents and grandparents homes. Reason I say this so strong, is that my mother just passed away a few months ago. There is 4 kids from our family. (All adult, and live in 3 states.) We were going thru Mom's stuff, and she had some older items which I knew, but what I didn't know the item came from her family or my step-dad's. Still today I think of something I didn't get. I have no idea if it sold in the online auction, or if someone from the family took it. I like the way you are cleaning the basement walls, The windows and floor also looks great!! Keep up the good work!!!

I'd real love to see after your FIL puts down the floor, I'd look to see like a small couch and tv ( kinda like a super small apt, Grandma could stay down there while shes doing her laundry.... Cool place for grandma to hang in. Instead of a man cave lol, lol , it could be a grandma's doman....You both done outstanding job you really did. When i was able i'd go and clean my mommas house. Now she 82 and i;m 56 sadly i'm not able to go and clean her house. My daughters came yesterday and helped us cause it just got away from us . Part 2 & 3 will have to be contuied ... I hate it God knows I absoulty hate having to ask for help .. But thank you for helping Grandma. We paid them good , and i know should , but i would have never took money from my mom on helping her out. She took care of my for 19 yrs.... IM SO SORRY ON WRITING THIS BOOK .... I'M SORRY

I grow up in a 3 bedroom and 1an half bath bathrooms. The garage was a 2 car garage. But, there was an area that wasn't finished until the third bedroom got to small for 3 boys to share. So, my mom closed off the top part of the garage where the washer and dryer were located. She had a closet built in and put a heater into the wall. Which ended up being my younger brother after me room. I was the oldest and the only girl. So, once my youngest brother was out of the crib I had my own room. That house was almost 1000 square feet and I don't think it was that small it would have been nice to have 2 full bathrooms.
