This looks so much easier and quicker than blender! I'm going to play with this tomorrow! I've been messing with blender to make a simple logo that are letters, nothing fancy at all in this logo, its simple vector shapes for letters, ive been trying to add slight surface imperfections onto gold letters that have a slight gold glow or emission, but my surface textures are going crazy, like, i just want the smudges on the front faces of the letters , but its aplying the texture many times between every voxel, and twisting it through the letter faces. Like a letter S, it is stretching the jpeg out long, and then bending this stretched texture into an S shape. So I went in and tried my best to clean up all these extra shapes in blender on the faces, But im still having the same trouble. And, with any letter that has a hole in it, like a letter A can't be one piece, it's bending the texture around to a point where there are 2 lines on the face of the A where i couldnt delete extra points. the texture ends and begins at these undeleteable points. And I could delete the points, but then my whole face of the letters disappeared, or something strange would happen with the side extruded parts of the letters. If anybody has a solution either blender or Unreal. Let me know. My plan tomorrow is to just remake the letters in Illustrator with as few points as possible. And see if I still get the surface imperfections going into the front faces. Because when I just made a cube in blender, the cube looked great. I'm thinking I need to just make the letters from shapes in Blender. But I'm worried about the part when I get to a letter with a hole in it, like A and R, and D. I know there has to be an easier way, it shouldn't be this difficult. I might have just followed a bad tutorial, but I decided to try a PBR, with a wild node tree, and the same shattered and split up problem is happening with my SVG logo. I think I'm missing something. I'm learning still. I just want that texture across only the front faces as one big image, if I can get the sides too, great. It's like it is putting the texture into every single polygon. I don't know how to get it to stretch across a group. The SVG was a plain font , outlined, and saved from Illustrator. I did zoom in and noticed a few extra points that didn't need to be there, but it's not explaining the many triangle shapes I'm getting on the front face on the letters. The back faces look the same too. I'm still going to remake the logo with in Illustrator 1st. Se what happens, then remake it in blender and see. But I really think Unreal is what I need for this job Gold letters, slight glow that's a little more than bloom does. And Surface imperfections like oily fingerprints. Gold looks good, glow looks good. But not the surface imperfections. They make it look like a diamond, or shattered glass instead.

I wonder, is it possible to utilize this in a dynamic way? maybe via Blueprints? so the logo extruded can be replaced if the SVG file is changing (even via a packaged game, since it's possible to import SVG files)

Is there any bug in SVG support? After each save, exiting the software and opening the model generated by SVG will cause it to deviate from its own center point and be misaligned...

Got the same thing on my end as well, imported, extruded and all but didnt animated, closed for the day. And when I came back to it all shapes were off center. Weird. Do we have to convert it to static meshes or something?

For some reason after I import my SVG and arrange the layers in position to each other getting them where I want them, then save and close the unreal scene, they lose their positions whenever I open the scene later. Not sure why.

@@JonathanWinbush Yeah. It is a sports logo. Basically a shield with big word out front. Not too complicated. I think I will try to import it again into a new scene just in case that scene is goofy for some reason.

Hmm, tried starting with a fresh Unreal scene and bringing the SVG in fresh. adjusted the extrusion and position on each separate layer. Then saved, closed the scene. But when I opened it up again, it lost the positioning but kept the extrusions. Frustrating, but will keep at it.

You will never be able to use ai or other Adobe files in unreal or any other program because Adobe want you to use only their programs. For motion design you got after effects. It’s old Adobe policy 😂

You can use ai and ps files directly in Cinema 4d so I wouldn't say never
