Probably my favorite van building channel on youtube right now. I would love a video on how you make the cabinet doors sometime.

This is really the best video I have seen for the upper cabinets so far. This is very professional work. You can see the many years of experience. I will copy this setup for my DIY project.

Thank you for sharing this..I have seen prior videos on your channel where you talked about the upper cabinets… But the attention to detail in this was spectacular and I am going to try to mimic your cabinets.

Thanks for your video. What is the height x depth of your cabinet?

Wow, excellent video, thank you! I hadn't even considered simply hanging the shelves on the van metal like that. I bought bookshelf brackets and was wondering how I would line them up without drilling more holes. So appreciate the downloadable materials doc!!

Excellent! I will have to edit this for my ford transit. I am doing my galley next week and have uppers above it

Great Video, I am using your method for my upper cabinets. Thank you so much for your instructions. I have just received my Utrusta hinges, but one thing is not clear to me. How do I screw them into the aluminum? In a previous video you mention you use a stainless steel screw (the ones that come with the hinges are not strong enough) right into the bar, but how do you do it? Are you using 2 slot aluminum and screwing into a solid side? Don't the screws from the hinges on either side hit one another? I would love some more details on this - thank you so much for all your videos - they are the best out here!

Excellent, as always. I did come across another solution where a 90° angle is fastened via rivnut into the upper truss and that that is secured to the 8020.
@thrivans2 ай бұрын
That would work. We used to use the 90 degree corner brackets, but you then must notch the ABS liner around the brackets. Also, there are so many holes in the ceiling truss that it can be hard to find a good spot to attach your bolt. We find it easier to just put a bolt through the furring strip.
@catw62742 ай бұрын
@@thrivans Love the idea of oversizing the furring strip. I hadn't thought of that either. Brilliant! So helpful!

Amazing video we can only get 20x20mm or 30x30mm in our country is 20 strong enough or is 30 to overkill ? Thanks

Curious whether you have tested the method of cross-drilling and end-tapping to achieve hidden joints. Less hardware and more strength. And have you an opinion on using Euro sizes, like 2020, 2040, etc.?

Hi Jeff, any chance we can et the dimensions of all the parts, I believe the only size you mentioned is the 90" but how about the vertical a bars and the ones from front to rear, That would be a great help with my sprinter, Thanks for the videos

I love your channel. You will be my first choice when i finally take the plunge. Can you please give your input on van reliability between the three ( Transit, sprinter, promaster)? Im a personal who is most concerned about constant repairs and being stuck alone in the middle of nowhere. So much that i never keep a vehicle warranty has expired. You guys know first hand which of the three is most reliable.

Also, can you make recommendations on how you would do undercabinet lighting? Specifically how you would run the wire? Would you create a double bottom?
@thrivans2 ай бұрын
We use LED strip lights. If you use round puck lights, you would have to make a double bottom.

Another great video Jeff! Thank you. In another video you posted few years ago, you used 1/2 “ furring strips for the roof ribs and they were 2” wide. In this video you are improving/upgrading to 5/8” thick and how wide, 3 1/2”? What is the rationale for the change? Thank you!
@thrivansАй бұрын
The 5/8” holds longer screws. The wider pieces allow us to screw through the furring strips without hitting the metal ribs. We also bolt the upper cabinets to the furring strips. The wider strips allow us to do this.

Looks very sharp! Couple questions. Do you ever use single anchor fasteners? I use them on the fronts because I was worried that the plates would come loose. Overkill I'm sure Also What do you use for cabinet doors? They look great!.

what are the demotions you use for the cabinets in the Sprinter 170 model?
@jeanmarcchauveau-u4qАй бұрын
Hello Van Upper lol. I don't know your first name, sorry. I searched at length for the link to your supplier for the cladding of your tall furniture bases. And I can't find this one. Could you tell me its exact composition, its exact name or its exact reference on your supplier's website. That would be really nice of you. Your work accomplished is absolutely remarkable, congratulations to you again. Jean-Marc.

What do you use for your van floor. My old van was 3/4 plywood, but that was heavy and got pretty beat up.
@thrivansАй бұрын
We use the factory floor that comes with the van, and then put 1/2" LVP flooring over it.,
