I think you missed a fairly interesting combo with Dockside and Worthy Cause. If you can generate six treasures with Dockside, you can sac it to cast worthy cause with buyback, return it with Extus and cast it again, netting one mana. You can repeat the loop for infinite mana, cast Worthy cause to sac Extus and send him to CZ, then cast the sorcery a billion times for the win.

Wouldn't the Exdus trigger when you cast, meaning you'd have to return a creature before Worthy Cause resolves? Sacing a creature isn't a cost to casting Worthy Cause. Maybe I'm wrong.

@@solotopp Well, according to the Gatherer rules for Worthy Cause, saccing is part of the cost, so the dockside would be in the GY when Extus requires you to choose targets.

Definitely agree. I think there is an interesting BAD deck present here since Extus also has some synergy w/ Burnt Offering and Culling in the same way as the Worthy Cause combo, and the sorcery half can do some Breach tricks like Dargo (though not as easy to infinite).

I have built Extus as my second in person cEDH Deck (of course with a few proxies until Strixhaven hits ;)) There are a few more benefits that Extus has that I think are being overlooked. It has some unique lines as other people mentioned, talking Chain of Smog, Worthy Cause etc. but that is not what makes it a side-option to Tymna/Jeska. What does is that you are a premium user of "silence" type effects or rather Grand Abolisher or flamescroll celebrant. If the silence part gets countered, you just get it back from your graveyard again, and you can keep drawing the removal options for your combo turn. Mana can also be refilled in some way with Burnt offering and Infernal plunge. Your Comboturns have a surprisingly high amount of resilience through a few key interactions, also lets not forget how good Dualcaster Mage can be here. The other thing is that the backside does surprisingly well vs. Stax strategies. It is an efficient and strong beater and can seriously put the hurt on some people trying to stax/hatebear the board out because in the end its a 6/6 haste flier that has the sac ability and just has a giant clock attached to it. I won games in testing just because of how strong the demons are. They are 12 damage per swing. I am not arguing that this is better then tymna/jeska, but after testing extus I see them at the same level with both decks having very distinct benefits over each other.

I think it's important to mention that extus do also enable some infinite kill options himself through like chain of smog + buccaneer and turns mill cards into searching. Specially some fun things you can do with dredge.

Xathrid Necromancer plus Maskwood nexus/Conspiracy will give you enough creatures to always cast awaken for [R][B]. You just need some way to make colored mana, and Pitiless Plunderer fits the bill perfectly. Plunderer will actually over produce on treasures for Awaken so you will also produce infinite mana. You can then hard cast Awaken an infinite number of times for the infinite 3/6’s that will kill everybody with their attack triggers.

Hmm not bad idea of a game plan. You can use Sunblade samurai, of any landcycling creatures to ramp over and over.

I had the same squee idea too. Discarding the same creature over and over to various self discard effects. I don't think its a powerful cedh strategy but it looks fun for casual. Also, there is a combo that may be worth mentioning with Chain of Smog, Glint Horn and a creature in your GY or hand.

Than chain smoge and Glint horn is a bit much in my opinion. But sure kinda decent 2 card combo as the commander isen't something you need to find you just have it.

That is true. Something to think about. If you can't find anything cool thing to do with the food I don't think you should play it. But there should be some potential here.

@@cedhtv The only thing I can think of is playing something like Trail of Crumbs, Savvy Hunter or Inspiring Statuary but they are all dead on their own. I would never want to draw them if I didn't have the Cow. Of these, Inspiring Statuary has the most promise tho

One thing I find interesting about the sorcery side is the tokens deal damage when they attack so if u think about most games everyone will have at least one creature so u get 3 tokens swing 1 at each opponent and they are all taking 12 that’s a good bit of damage especially against a nause player. It’s not game winning but I feel like it’s relevant

But you don't get a token for each opponent. The card says: each opponent sacrifices a creature. Create a 3/6 black and red avatar creature token with (...). It doesn't say anything about a token for each opponent or each sacrificed creature.

Makes Breach/Stitcher’s Supplier/Burnt Offering lines marginally better by cutting down the number of cards needed in the grave to exile for Escape, as you can bring Supplier back to hand off the Extus trigger each time.

You mentioned Horror of the Broken lands as a cycle option but what about Street Wraith instead? The cost is 2 life instead of a single black so you could keep more mana up while drawing cards.

What about burnt offering and living lightning, or culling the weak? They can infinitely loop each other with Extus, if you have a etb or Ltb damage outlet, that’s game.
