Does it get any better? those were the days when a singer didn't need big production, just sing the tune fabulously with a swinging band. I love Eydie, the best.

Eydie Gorme was absolutely fabulous ! She had everything Streisand had and much more! No wonder they wanted her initially for Funny Girl . Those octave skips my God! What a set of pipes on this woman !I always loved her !

Eydie Gorme was a wonderful singer and talented artist. I remember singing along with her on the Hit Parade of the 1950s in New York City. Her fantastic voice inspired me, and made me think that anything was possible. In 2011, I finally sent her an email and to my surprise she reply. This year I received a Valentine's Day email from Eydie and Steve.. May you rest in peace, dear Eydie.

Eydie does a fabulously up tempo version of this song that seems to totally make it hers only! Her ending on this going up 3 octaves shows such a strong range of such a beautiful voice! God bless you for sharing your special gift!!!

With her 5-octave range, she was the Mariah Carey of her era. My DH & I saw her & Steve Lawrence in Las Vegas 5 years ago & what a wonderful show it was!! At 73 yrs of age, she could still belt 'em out with the powerful voice she was blessed with. She can't hit the very high notes like she did in her 20's & 30's, so the music was rewritten to allow for that. She & Steve entertained us for about 2 hrs, & because of back problems, Eydie isn't touring any longer. Thx for sharing this video!

I can remember hearing Eydie singing that song as a young kid. Then at the end of the song, the way her voice went up into the high pitch. I'm thinking, man, how did she do that. Wow!

Ms. Gorme was taking jazz dance classes with a world famous teacher during the time of this recording, his name is Luigi - the first to innovate a technique to learn the American artform of jazz/theater dance. During this current month of May, 2012, Luigi used this recording of Eydie's in his classes in NYC, for his international clients, and they loved it so much that he finished a routine to the entire recording. Maybe Eydie will come back and he'll be able to show her his terrific dance...

In the beginning she was VERY hip and made some of the swingingest, most venturesome albums being done by anyone. Then she married Steve and today they quickly became show business royalty and there wasn't much occasion for being hip any more. But she's always been a superior singer by any measure and a truly endearing personality. If you don't have her ABC albums on C.D., do get them. You'll be amazed.
