I knew most of these settings but there was a lot of things I learned. How to control the hidden lines was something I was using the atom array as a workaround. To avoid flicker I was disabling Strokes in my materials altogether instead of trying some of the adjustments in the tutorial. There was also a lot of control tips about phong angle settings here I never knew. I put a ton of notes in an annotation tag so I remember.
@eyedesyn5 жыл бұрын
Thats awesome to hear you learned some new techniques! I know flickering lines are always a difficult thing to remove! How were you using the Atom Array?
@dmellis5 жыл бұрын
@@eyedesyn I used the atom array in any situation I wanted to see internal lines. I wasn't aware of the hidden line setting. When I finally rendered the model, I go some flickering. I even tried disabling Strokes altogether in my materials. That usually works for me. I wanted to keep that dotted line option though. This one was a challenge because the model was so complex. I'll take a look at your final model I downloaded and see how that works.

For some reason, my PC only runs at 10% load when I use this technique. It's taking forever to generate the lines, but then the frame instantly appears when done in the render viewer. I'm not sure why it's not using more resources and being so slow.
@eyedesyn5 жыл бұрын
One of the downsides of Sketch & Toon lines is it's not multithreaded so it won't take full advantage of your processing power, unfortunately. Go bug MAXON about updating it! :)

@@Fabitalism I had the same problem. I think it was because I applied the material to the object. You don't need to do this. The material properties are all applied within the renderer

MOBOX Graphics correct, you can add the lines globally in the render effect like I show or you can apply the stroke materials directly to an object via sketch style tag and have all the same options there. Sketch style tags will override the global effect
