One of my two favorite “late to the party” characters… the other being Harry G who plays Athelstan (who you also had a fabulous interview with). Siggy is a very intriguing and likable guy both on the screen and as a person here! He is extremely handsome, of course, but his charisma made him a scene stealer, from day one when he was first introduced. I love the way Bernard wrote this character and how he was portrayed on the show. We often got the “violent/ no thinking” Viking, but Sig had great character development; we knew he was different. Congrats on another fantastic interview, I enjoy them all so much! Easily my favorite collective cast hands down of any show. Their camaraderie behind the scenes translates to the show and made it so special. They all respect the source material and study the intentions of their characters so deeply, how can we not love them all for that? In addition they are all so down to earth you wouldn’t know they star on one of the top shows in the world. TLK forever!!!!

I find it so amazing that he managed to get casted as Sigtryggr (and grateful). I would think, ignorantly, that when casting, they'd typically look for someone who has a tough build, deep voice, typical warrior stuffs. The talent must have shone through for them to choose him & indeed he was the BEST for the role. My fave character on the show, finished it months ago but I keep coming back for sigtryggr recaps. Top tier talent. I mean if you put real life him & sigtryggr side by side, the transformation is just crazy man."when we fight, we fight with one heart. To terrify the saxons" I watched the recap so many times that line is stuck in my head 😂 his normal voice here vs that one. Top tier.

The way he approaches his role shows that he is exactly as thoughtful and smart an actor as his character. Impressive! And his voice is something very special. Great that you got him on! He really is right about you being the voice of the fans, at least my voice. But looking at his character it just wasn't fair that all the skills that made Sigtryggr such a brilliant Danish army commander in season 4 led to his death in season 5.

First-I love that they have a Jolly Boys’ WhatsApp group chat. Lol. Second, I absolutely loved his portrayal of Sigtrygger. In season 4, he was instantly one of my favorite characters and the chess player analogy was spot on. What I found interesting is that in Season 4, Sigtrygger told King Edward that he was stronger than him because he didn’t have a wife and kids like Edward. But in Season 5, it wasn’t Stiorra that weakened him, but his love for his brother. For me, Sigtrygger’s death was the hardest this season because he was such a rich character and he had so much potential as a leader.

Damn he’s good. I didn’t even recognize him in the thumbnail. I haven’t finished the books yet but I’m not the type who cares a whole lot about spoilers so I’m glad he doesn’t die in them. His death scene in the show is probably my favourite of his but it’s also hard to watch because of how great and enjoyable his character was.

It’s great for Eys to share that email and let us have a glimpse of casting process! The thing I loved most about Sigtryggr is his curiousity and open-mindedness to learn new ways esp when Stiorra was talking about the outdated idea of the Danes and Anglo-Saxons are twines that can never meet. Yeah Eys nailed the complex character like even if he was gentle and soft-spoken and physically isn’t as huge as the other Danes, it was still terrifying to see Sigtryggr holding the kids because you can see he is capable of killing. Yep one step ahead. This is what I love about TSC the valuable insights that both us viewers gain about the movie & characters (that makes us rewatch TLK for the bazillionth time) and the actors gain about their own craft. I love the snippets of personal traits, tastes and interests they share too! Death - One of the best scenes of being executed in any film. A truly noble death. I don’t think there’s a lot of persons who saw it who didn’t shed a tear. You cannot even resent Sig for putting Uhtred in that position because you understand why Uhtred had to be the one. And Sigtryggr was the one to pull in or push himself into the sword! I hope to see Eys’ talents showcased in other films! The actor who plays the brother of Sygtriggr would be great to see on TSC. I actually did not know the names of the actors of TLK for a long time (because I skip the intro and the credits when I watch) until I see their names in this channel The video thumbnail title says the actor’s name and I say who? And luckily the title also says “who plays (character name)”🤣

I was so surprised Sigtryger allowed the defenses of the city to decline so far by season 5. I totally expected he would have had watches out that would have seen & warned him. Especially after the great warrior he was in season 4. Great interview! Super nice and humble actor.

Thanks!! Yeah it was a bit surprising, especially since he was so careful in season 4 but his false sense of security in his brother led to the cities downfall. Oh the betrayal! It seems he maybe got too comfortable with all the peace since season 4

This was the best! So glad you were able to interview him, and to hear how much he appreciates you guys. What great insights he gave to his performance. It was strange however to have to get used to his real life persona which is so different from that of his character. I guess that's what acting is all about. What's next??

To think that we are living in a world where a great opportunity for a Sigtryggr spinoff with this amazing actor is being missed out. It would be so wonderful to explore fully his storyline and develop his character toward a different denouement that’s closer to the book’s. I wish I had the means and producer’s knowledge to make this happen. His fate in The Last Kingdom left us with such a “unfinished business”feeling that something needs to be done to get a sense of closure
