i know this comment is 2 years too late, but isnt there a Macros feature in EZD? that would have made the thing you were trying to do with automation less complicated. but as we all know there are multiple ways to get around things. good video though!

Very cool. Thank you! I believe that velocity is more than just volume; it is how hard the drums are hit. Isn't that true? In automating parameters the first thing I would do is rename them to match the parameter names.

Yes, you are correct. Velocity is "how hard" the instrument is hit. Basically if you were behind the kit and strike a tom with a "soft hit", that would define "the velocity." Now if I raised the "volume" of that "soft hit", the "velocity" is still what it was based on "how hard" it was struck, but the "overall volume" of that "soft hit" is raised in proportion to the velocity levels of each hit. I'm going to do a deep dive on this shortly further explaining the differences with visual insight too. Thank you so much for the feedback! Cheers.

The song parts in toontracks are already dynamically different from each other. I mean, velocity and volume will be lower in intros than verses; verses lower than choruses, etc? But we should be adjusting everything ourselves so this is useful!

Hey, brother. I have a question: I wasn't sure how to get the drums (song) I made in EZ Drummer and record it into my DAW. Then somehow, I did it by accident, so now I know how. My question is, when I play the track that was recorded in the DAW, the quality isn't as good. The cymbals have a sizzle and even when I EQ it, it still has that fake cymbal sound. Is there a step I'm missing before getting the drums recorded on the DAW? I know this video is from 8 months ago, but I'm hoping you come across this comment. Thanks, in advance.

it would really depend on how you "recorded" the drum part. if what you just recorded sounds way different from what you're hearing from the plugin then it means that it didnt go through EZD's plugin processing thru the mixer and was bounced dry. Also if you've bounced the mic outputs of the individual channels and not through the buses then that would also be the result. hope this helps.

Thanks for the video! Quick question regarding how you got the grid split. I recorded a midi drum track with ez drummer in my daw, but can’t seem to split it into separate parts in the grid editor. Is this even possible?

inside the grid editor and also in the song track is another tool aside from the arrow/pointer and its the scissor looking thing which splits the track.

Correct. I have to copy and paste the auto for each instance I want that effect......usually its just for changes from vs to chorus so its super-quick. There may be other ways to do it but I've been copy and paste for so long I'm just used to it. However, your "edit play style" changes will stay as is if you copy and paste those. (within EZD and your DAW) Hope that helps and thanks for question.
