I was on the lowest dose for 6 weeks! It devastated my life! Tears in my tendons and ligaments and triggered an autoimmune response…now my system is attacking my muscles. IMNM should be discussed with patients before prescribing! This doesn’t go away ever!

I believe Pravastatin caused my mother's dementia.After taking Pravastatin at night she would experience nervousness and anxiety and went on to have dementia. I noticed when her prescription ran out one time she didn't take it for a few days and her anxiety was noticeably better along with her memory.

I have been taking Rosuvastatin for about eight months. For the past six months I have suffered from unexplained muscle pains throughout my body coupled with severe pain in the soles of my feet, ankles, heels and Achilles tendons, knees, back, neck, elbows, wrists and fingers. I came across KZbin articles which pointed out that such pain may be due to statins and so, without consulting my doctor, I ceased taking the medication three days ago and the pains are already disappearing. I will accept the risk of heart attack or stroke as it is preferable to the debilitating agony of the statin side effects.

@@ÁzsiábaSzakadtam My 83 year-old father has been taking Rosuvastin for three or four years and has had debilitating muscle pain in his legs, feet and low back. He recently had to go to the hospital after his stupid doctor added Flomax (a muscle relaxer) after asking him if he got up frequently to urinate. This sent his blood pressure back and forth between super high and super low. He has now been off the Flomax for two weeks (after a hospital stay for obervation and heart tests that all came back negative), yet he is still so crazy mentally he can't think straight or concentrate, his memory has been crap for years. He gets claustrophobic and gets hot and cold flashes and feels trapped in the house and says, "I just got to get out of the house" and he goes out on the deck in 35 F degree weather. This is because statins are starving his brain of nutrients. He has had the loss of memory and concentration and muscle pain for years, before he was ever put on the FloMax, so... it's always been the statins. The claustrophobia is a weird thing that comes and goes every several months (often at winter time), but appears to have been brought on this particular time by adding Flomax to his statins. He has such debilitating muscle and back pain he can barely function, constantly putting on Lidocaine and Lidocaine patches just to get through the day. THANK GOD for the internet making ACTUAL INFORMATION available to those of us who are trying to save our elderly parents lives from these wonderful drugs. Azsiaba, I hope Big Pharma is paying you well for posting your baseless character assassinations on people relaying their experience taking these wonderful medications, but the dam has broken, the word IS out that poison is poison. You might as well get used to the fact that people know the truth and that you cannot fight it. The freedom of speech made possible by the internet has ended your monopoly of lies.

rosuvastatin: I was prescribed this for elevated cholesterol; having had statin problems before, I was a bit wary. Sure enough, by the second day my right eye (which is 'live' but without vision) started to hurt, severe pressure behind the eyeball. By the third day I was on tylenol for the pain and it was bloodshot. It felt like it might explode. I decided to skip the rosuvastatin and see what happens. Sure enough by the next day the pressure was gone. I'll take my chances with diet and cholesterol, thank you. A previous health care worker prescribed atorvastatin and I went into Zombie land; brain fog, muscle weakness, it was a mess. I'd say, at least for me, statins are off the list.

What doctors don't tell their patients is that no one needs statins unless their transglycerides are high and HDL is low and that even then they don't need to take it more than three times a week or every third day to be effective enough. LDL cholesterol is not the bad guy in our bloodstream. Narrowing of arteries is caused by smoking, sugar and transfats.

I am trying to find information on what the recovery phase is like with Statin Induced Rhabdomyolysis. In research I found it can be 3-4 months, but what symptoms are presented during that time. Is it normal to have a severe increase in pain after stopping the Statin? I am 7 weeks off the Lipitor 7 weeks now. Initially my muscle and joint pain was minimal/intermittent. At about 4 weeks in it started increasing in intensity. By 5 weeks it was 10+ with pain medications in all 4 extremities and lower back. At 7 weeks, over the last 3 days it has decreased to 7 to 8 on the pain scale. I can walk without pain meds, but it is still very painful. I'm still basically bed ridden. I also am very tired all the time. I sleep 14-18 hours a day. It's a very deep, hard sleep. I go through cycles where I'll sleep like this for 2-4 days then wake up and feel fully alert for a few days. This happens weekly right now. This is not new, but happening more frequently. Some History that got me here. Mostly I want to know want to know if my symptoms post stopping the Statin are normal! I was on Lipitor for about a year starting in June 2021. The symptoms were masked with existing Long Covid Symptoms present since mid 2020. In December 2021 I developed Severe Angioedema. The Allergist started treatment with Cyclosporine a week later to reduce inflammation relating the Angioedema to Long Covid. I followed up with my GP the next week because my health seriously degraded. I thought I was going to die. They did not do any labs or review my meds. After a month of severe muscle pain, weakness, basically complete immobility I figured out on my own with research that it was a severe drug interaction between the Lipitor and the Cyclosporine. I stopped the cyclosporine and improved. Still no follow up labs from my GP. He did not question or stop the Lipitor. I didnt know any better. So, no baseline CK in January. I crashed again in June and slept 25 straight days 16-20 hours a day. Still thinking it was the Long Covid causing symptoms I tapered off the Lipitor so we could try the Cyclosporine again. Also, because I was concerned about the Lipitor side effects (but my GP was not). My Allergist ran my chemistries before starting the Cyclosporine and found my GFR was 14 (Kidney Failure). Still no CPK was tested. I didnt restart the Lipitor. Three Weeks later I saw a Nephrologist. I had done more research and found the link between Lipitor, Rhabdomyolysis and Kidney damage. I presented this to the Nephrologist. My GFR had increased to 35 after being off Lipitor 3 weeks. He diagnosed Statin Induced Rhabdomyolysis but did not run a CK or any other diagnostics to confirm. I followed up with my allergist when I started having swelling in my right foot and increased muscle pain. I asked him to run labs to check kidney function and a Myositis Panel including tests form IMNM. He ordered a basic Chemistry, CKMB Fraction (not a CK) and the basic Myositis Panel which did not include the antibodies for IMNM. So... I still have no baseline CK and no verified diagnosis. My next step is the Mayo Clinic.

OMG. my blood check results from sep 05 2023, my cholesterol is 529 . LDL 393, A1C 5.7. Tri. 108. I am chinese in taiwan, I am allergic to statin, even lowest dosage will cause muscle cramp right after the first pill i took. I stopped statin treatment after consulted with my cardiologist but went for chinese herbal medication. In fact, my cardiologist was surprised/shocked on my healthy condition. If herbal treatments from china is not an option, I would suggest to check the herbal treatments from germany or other european countries. No harm to take a look and do some research. I am also interested in studying the Carnival diet concept as i seldom like to consume vegetables and fruits from youth. I found lots of information from youtube.

lucky you survived. My mother died from Zocor induced rhahdomyolisis in ten days (that was back in 2004). Doctors mistreated her for a week (as a drug like Zocor cannot be lethal! HAHA) , then it was too late and rhabdo got out of control. HUngary, Europe. She was a long distance runner , age 61, perfectly healthy minus high cholesterol familly DNA heritage, for a week doctors thought she just had a very heavy muscle pain due to running... CK was over 100.000 (!!)

Does dutasteride work by binding to 5-alpha reductase rendering it ineffective? If that is the case, there will be wide reaching effects because other hormones (e.g., progesterone) will not be reduced into their dihydro version (e.g., dihydroprogeterone). Or, does dutasteride work by binding to testosterone thereby blocking the ability of 5-alpha reductase from reducing the testosterone to DHT? If so, does it bind to any hormones other than testosterone?

Is it ok to use this while being a type 2 diabetic with a 11 a1c?
@gerardine9675
@gerardine9675 Жыл бұрын
No. Statins increase the risk of type 2 diabetes in those who don't have it. Statins are bad for everyone unless your transglycerides are high and your HDL is low. Cholesterol is not bad. The causes of coronary heart disease is not cholesterol or saturated fats but smoking, sugar (processed carbs and starchy veg as well as sucrose, fructose and any kind of '...ose', and transfats (from plant oils used in cooking and margarine). There are YT videos by doctors on this subject who advocate a low carb diet and explain how to do it and why.

80 milligrams daily in an obviously frail 91 year-old woman upon release from the hospital after an ischemic stroke sound like a prescription for a funeral? Allopathic physicians can be a menace to longevity, as well as clear thinking in geriatric patients. Could it be purposeful and not an accident? Putting them on ventilators during the "pandemic" sure took a lot of "useless eaters" out of the equation. Psychopaths are not your friend.

You live longer with your normal cholestorol. Big Pharma just wants your money and for you to have problems so you keep the doctors pockets lined. A medical doctor in the UK at Oxford University did the studies (Dr. Rory Colluns) and he NEVER disclosed the side effects with anyone. That means that Bug Pharma lined his medical department at the college with a lot of funding so he kept it a secret from everyone. Statins are dangerous!!! Doctors don't know the difference or the real effects of half the drugs they give out. Some phamacy rep comes in, pays for their dinner or sends them on vacations and they just take the reps word for it, the doctors give out the drugs and people get hurt. Please stay off them and just keep doing the healthy things you are already doing! Best wishes!!! 🙏🏼✝🛐
