Thank you for bringing back memories. I owned several A-64's. They were excellent machines. Great machines in a gravel pit, they never hesitated to load a full bucket.

Not the first cylinder iv ever done but probably the biggest iv done. only tool I didn't have was the spanner for the rod end nut. At the end of the day once you have been turning wrenches long enough you start to realize it's all just nuts and bolts no matter what your working on.

That's heavy work, for anything a bit larger than that I remove completely and secure it vertically. Then use lifting equipment to remove and replace the rod. Makes replacement much easier, but watch out for the oil fountain! Great job👍 I am not an expert either.

Ezra you are a hard working smart Man. Wish I had the knowledge you have. I do work on my truck and trailer. Oil changes. brakes. bearings. Change tires. but you lengthen frames. Put axles on weld. Enjoy your videos. Take care.

Only suggestion would be to use a ratchet strap to help hold That cylinder in place while fighting the pin. I am surprised you got the piston nut loose by hand. I have had them where a 1” impact need some heat to get them off
@Ezrider359

If it's a normal nut it would have locktight on it heat would be the tool for the job. This one had a nylon lock nut

I thought there would be a lot more to it than that. I wonder why our shop doesn't do repack in house. If I ever try, I'll be sure to have full rain gear on. LOL Here we haul out of small lots, it's $80-100CAN per hour for the trucks. The city/townships have designated dump sites for snow. It IS really expensive! Not everyone has friends like you. Thanks for the great video! I learned a ton here!
@Ezrider359
@Ezrider359 Жыл бұрын
It probably would have easily $1000 to haul that snow out. To haul the loader over there re stack the pile and haul the loader back was $200 and $100 of that was just to get the loader over there and back. Would have had $200 in it just hauling the loader over going back swapping trailers and coming back to load the first load to haul out. All that kind of stuff I bill on a hourly rate.
@marysoldeeley2218
@marysoldeeley2218 Жыл бұрын
@@Ezrider359 Absolutely! Here it's minimum 4 hours to start(unless they get a deal), sometimes an hour round trip to dump the snow, if it comes out of the box first try. Adds up crazy fast! Excellent way to go for you! That's a good deal! Float service is a little more here. Where I currently work, we walk the loader to town and it is billed per hour, not far, across the highway. When I did snow removal myself, which I actually miss doing! Was in the city, same thing, I took the loader from the shop and did snow removal from one end of the city to the other. Doing private driveways here and there seeing folks struggling. Shhh, Don't tell the boss LOL

Matt of Diesel Creek;had a similar experience when he had to change the hydraulic oil in the transmission in his wheel loader,that he had named "Big Bertha".He wasn't prepared;for how much oil would come flooding & gushing out,and got a face full of hydraulic oil.Afterwords he said on his channel that the next time he has to change the hydraulic oil;he was going to be wearing a pair of chemical resistant goggles and a face shield to avoid getting a face full of hydraulic oil.

I know your a young guy and your a one man operation(so am I) but try to take care of your body(it will remind you when your older). I would have used two ratchet straps, one to hold the cylinder up and another to compress the cylinder. Other than that you did a great job! On a side note the government does not want you to collect rain water thats theirs! BUT if it falls frozen its your problem.

Worst one I ever Did was below 0 out and blew a supply hose on the side dump with the tub all the way up and only way I could get the tub set back down so I could go to get a hose made was to crack a line loose on one of the cyl while a front end loader pushed the box down. I got inpatient and tried to give the hose another half turn and it popped off and had a 1 inch hose spray me straight in the face. Face hair shirt pants all soaked to the skin. Freezing cold to boot added to the enjoyment.
