Experts said flight data suggests that the pilot was unconscious and that the plane was on autopilot until it ran out of fuel and crashed.

@acr98disc
@acr98disc 8 ай бұрын
They all suffered from hypoxia because cabin pressurization was not switched to "auto position". That happened when techs were working on aircraft before flight and left the switch off. Pilots didn't check it because normally it is always in auto position.
@aboutwhat1930
@aboutwhat1930 8 ай бұрын
@@acr98disc Pilot failure then. There's checklists for a reason and I can guaranty that the jet would have had checklist items to check the pressurization system etc at least during startup. Newer planes should also have audibly and visually warned the pilot before the cabin altitude left the safe range. Next task -- get the planes to detect pilot & copilot consciousness. Descend to say 2300 ft above the tallest obstacle per GPS or to perhaps 7700 ft (to not interfere with cruising traffic and to be low enough to possibly enable recovery with decent fuel economy and at an altitude that clearly suggests to ATC there's an emergency onboard, even if the transponder is not functional).

@cookiedefender566
@cookiedefender566 Жыл бұрын
@Kamraam because it’s the most likely explanation. One of the F-16s reported frosted over windows, and it wasn’t a pilot medical emergency because then the copilot or passengers would have bathed in or something to call. The cabin lost pressure at high altitude and a mere second of that is enough to incapacitate anyone. Fuel isn’t infinite and the autopilot held following the previous set waypoints until it ran out of fuel and crashed.

There was a cabin depressurisation and the pilots passed out since they didn't put on their oxygen mask in time because their checklist manual says they should troubleshoot the issue first during which they passed out, so they kept climbing till the fuel run out and they came crashing down. R.I.P.

The airframe probably isn’t strong enough to hold it and even if it was, the best USN or USAF pilots wouldn’t be able to pull that off. Planes move around in the sky they arent stable like a car. This idea is completely ridiculous and it would have no chance of working. The plane would be balanced on the cockpit and stabilizers of the F-16s and those would break off under the weight. And landing would be another impossible feat that you would need to figure out.

Many aviation enthusiasts and internet historians use flight sims to show how certain events might have looked like. Its pretty easy to do rather than making CGI animations, and gives a good, realistic picture of what actually happened. X-Pilot and Allec Joshua Ibay on KZbin are probably the most popular, and arguably the best and most true to life channels when it comes to portraying historical flights through flight simulators, going so far to download mods to make sure the exact plane and equipment is portrayed, along with accurate data, and using live ATC communications in the videos.

Also here is some info: Outside aviation experts speculated the pilot likely lost consciousness from a lack of oxygen inside the jet when it climbed above 10,000 feet, the altitude that typically requires cabin pressurization. Only minutes into the doomed journey, the pilot stopped responding to air traffic control instructions prompting the alert to military, security and law enforcement agencies. @@fraskf6765 No, they aren't US exclusive, speeds >mach 1 are allowed over land only in very rare occasions (such as a civil plane crossing a restricted air space, like in this video), and are otherwise forbidden in all of the EU (and even in Asia/Oceania/Africa, but I can't remember exactly, so take this last info with a grain of salt). As a rule of thumb, if you can hear a sonic boom without suffering any injuries it's probably far away, since (theoretically) the sheer force of the sound waves can shatter glass (windows, windshields...) below the plane and it can provoke serious injuries to the ear in a considerable radius (its not exactly a circumference due to the way sound waves shape around the plane and impact the surrounding air, but it carries the message well enough). I spent most of my early adult life living in Marietta Georgia. This is the home to Lockheed Martin, as well as Dobbins Air Force Base. It was not uncommon to hear the occasional sonic boom. Whether it was Lockheed testing out new aircraft, or the occasional fighter jet doing maneuvers. (There was a naval base right across the street from Dobbins), Dobbins is home to a fleet of C130 aircraft, so we knew it wasn’t coming from them. But, being an aeronautical enthusiast, I loved every second of it, and welcomed the aircraft flying over my house regularly. Also, on a separate note, instead of using Atlanta Hartsfield airport, Dobbins Air Force Base, is the airport used whenever the President of the United States came to visit Atlanta. And, to be honest, I did not look forward to those days! They shut down all of the highways and side roads, so that he could make it to wherever he was going to speak that day. It interrupted everyone’s day. And BLOCKED up an already horrible Highway system!

@@TheFujiwuji but there were no witnesses of the plane being shot down, however the pilot did see the plane start to nose dive when it likely lost fuel. Also it seems like a waste of an expensive missile to shoot down an unresponsive civilian aircraft where the pilots are clearly incapacitated in some manner. Plus the FAA tracked the entire flight and there’s no suspicion of shooting it down and honestly it wouldn’t make a difference if they shot it down, the pilots were probably already dead.
@TheFujiwuji
@TheFujiwuji Жыл бұрын
@@user-wi4cs8sg8q "Waste" of an expensive missile? The US recently shot down a $12 hobbyist balloon with a $439,000 Sidewinder missile. So the cost of a missile is not even remotely a factor in whether a plane gets shot down or not. Also, you're assuming that the pilots were already dead. There's alot about the story that provokes curiosity and a modicum of scrutiny. But, we're Americans, and we typically forget stories after about 3 days, so it's on to the next one apparently.

@@Ethan-km4lx What? The F-16 is classified as both a fighter in aircraft designation and a fighter in its combat role. The designation "F-16" indicates that it is a fighter aircraft, and it is commonly referred to as a fighter jet. And while you have a point with it as a multi-role jet, it's designed primarily for air-to-air combat.

For a long time there were flight manuals instructing pilots to investigate problems with pressurization before donning their oxygen mask, so it's possible that he was trying to figure out a problem & ran out of air. Or he could've climbed through ten thousand feet without knowing there were any issues, and by the time he realized what was happening he would have very little time to react.

Well you don't really feel hypoxia, it could have been a slow process. Its like your getting drunk/high so you really don't know your intoxicated until you wake up, so unfortunately its nearly impossible to realize something is wrong unless you know the aircraft has depressurization issues

hey i live in virginia and actually heard it and was wondering what it was, but i know how it happened. the cessna wasnt pressurized enough so around the altitude they found the plane, the pilot was stumped over as he suffered from Hypoxia. the plane wasn’t even at its full altitude yet and he still suffered from hypoxia. the plane later lost fuel and crashed into the mountains. it’s very sad but what’s interesting is that the sonic boom could be heard from miles and miles away as it was over DC and my house is in virginia 30 minutes away. may the pilot and the other passengers on that cessna that day rest in peace.

Another possibility that makes more sense is hypoxia which is the lack of oxygen which is near impossible to identify if not given the right training as it kills you slowly until you fall asleep, this would explain why none of the passengers did anything when the plane went off course and began to dive
