It's an S or a Y shaped air intake. In the front you see the two intakes with 1-1.5 m gap, but the engines as seated together close in the back. Hence the intake curves to centerline towards the engines.

+Evan Faraday If you mean the F-22, it carries 6 AIM-120s and 2 AIM-9s for air-to-air combat, which is a standard load for any fighter, and also has an M61A2 Vulcan cannon with 480 rounds, which is more ammunition than most fighters carry these days. For strike missions, the F-22 can carry, for example, 2 large bombs like these (GBU-32s) or 8 GBU-39s (small diameter bombs), plus 2 AIM-120s, 2-AIM-9s, and the Vulcan for self-defense, which again is pretty standard for a strike fighter. If for some reason stealth mode is not required, then it has 4 wing stations (2 on each wing) that are rated at 5000 lbs each, which if fully loaded would make for a rather heavy total load that its maximum takeoff weight does allow for.

@@petebuck9889 Not this job, no, but what about common sense (ours) and experience (theirs)? I suppose I could trip on something at home (not so different from the office environment many people work in) and smash my face or skull on the corner of a table, so would you recommend that we all wear protective gear at all times? Do you wear it? What about wearing a helmet while driving or riding in a car, or while taking a shower because one could always slip and crack one's skull (this has happened to some people)? One can't be too safe, right? Now, I'm the kind of guy, whether you'd believe me or not, who wears safety glasses while playing with Nerf guns with kids (each of them wears one, too--I insist). I also wear them while drilling, sawing, or hammering anything, even if it's just one nail. In fact, I wear hearing protection while doing anything noisy, too, including testing my smoke alarms, even if it's only momentary. Oh yes, I also wear safety glasses while soldering electronics. Recently, however, I replaced an old, worn out door knob and did not use any safety equipment at all. Was I being overly cavalier? The same goes for a kitchen faucet I replaced a few months ago. Was I playing with fire? In the US military, sailors who work on the flight decks of aircraft carriers wear substantial protective equipment at all times, and rightfully so, as the noise and hazards in that frenetic, crowded space are horrendous. How odd, as this seems to imply that Americans do care about safety in the workplace, but it must be an anomaly because, you know, we're all daredevils and reckless nutcases who are too ignorant to know of and use protective equipment. N95 masks for hospital staff? Pffft! I've never heard of them. ;) Anyway, I still don't see any particular reasons for wearing additional protective equipment in the case of this video, aside from the gloves I see (good idea) and kneepads, which I hope they're wearing under their pants (I would). Now please excuse me while I put on my hardhat to get breakfast, just in case the box of Corn Flakes gets pulled out with the box of Cheerios. It might hit me on the shoulder, though, so I'd better put on my full-coverage bubble wrap suit. ;)

@@rbrtck oh by the the way I did 12 years as a Royal Air Force Armourer load teams etc. Us in my country Health and Safety is enshrined in law
@rbrtck
@rbrtck 4 жыл бұрын
@@petebuck9889 In the US, we have laws and multiple agencies at multiple levels of government (through OSHA--Occupational Safety and Health Administration, US Department of Labor) that concern safe practices in the workplace, and sometimes these go overboard, at other times they are sensible, and at other times they are too loose, although the latter usually gets corrected fairly quickly due to accidents and lawsuits (Americans *LOVE* to sue for anything and everything--that's a largely true stereotype, unfortunately). Did you assume that we didn't have these protections in place at all? Apparently the USAF and federal safety inspectors don't think any additional protection is needed in the case in question, and thus far decades of experience haven't proven them wrong. It doesn't mean they don't care (especially since avoiding unnecessary casualties is a good thing in war) or there are no laws, they're just doing what they've found to be reasonably safe. I can think of specific cases in which OSHA at the federal or state level have gone to absolutely ridiculous lengths attempting to completely idiot-proof workplaces. In one such instance I know of, there had literally never been an accident in the 60+ years the workplace has been in operation, and the new government-mandated safety measures actually compromised the work being done. The workers hated the new procedures, and posted a picture of one of themselves being wrapped in a meter-thick layer of bubble wrap to lampoon OSHA (where they obtained so much bubble wrap just for a gag is puzzling). :) I hope OSHA didn't see that! Usually they and workers are on the same side, but not in all cases. Anyway, my point is that protecting worker safety and health is the law in the US, too, but can vary in its...exuberance...or maybe I should say zealousness. Rarely are workers underprotected (a fleeting condition, as well, as people will get hurt or even pretend to get hurt, and sue for millions), and far more often they are overprotected, if anything. I was just saying, admittedly as a layman unlike you, that I don't see any particular hazards in this video that would warrant additional protective equipment. Perhaps you could enlighten me and others with your professional knowledge and experience instead of making unfounded assumptions about other peoples and countries. I'm sure there are a few things that aren't perfect about your people and country, no offense intended.

It would be unsafe to have robots load a 2000 ton live bomb on an aircraft weapon system.. plus it would be to expensive to have unique robots for different aircrafts. It's not smart. If it ain't broken don't fix it.

here you can clearly see the biggest problem with stealth design: you can only fit small rockets inside the fuselage. that means you really have to get close to your enemy. of course, if your enemy has R-37 hypersonic rockets that can reach almost 400 km away and one of the best radar systems ever mounted on a fighter, specially designed to detect stealth airplanes, then you are just a 200 million $ flying duck.

Not really bro. I don't care how good the radar is, you're not going to be able to detect and track stealth out at 400 km to get a shot. So basically the ridiculous range of the R-37 is useless. Not to mention the endgame maneuverability of the R-37 is probably poor at best since it's designed for shooting down HVAA like AWACS.

tf u on about, Su-57 isnt flying and wont fly for a long ass time. and Su-35 sure as hell doesnt have "one of the best radar systems", frankly neither does Su-57. + Hypersonic missile is too fast do quick maneuvers which a jet fighter can do to avoid it.

The F-22 can also use AMRAAMS, which is far more effective than any BVR missile today
