Félix Sánchez created history when he became the first athlete from the Dominican Republic to win an Olympic gold medal. He won the 400m Hurdles at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, four years later injury and personal tradegy prevented him from producing his best in Beijing. However, Sánchez defied the odds to triumph once again at London 2012. He speaks in dept about his incredible Olympic journey.

He was able to be part of the most famous athletics team in the world and decided to be on his little land team, where his roots are coming from, the Dominican Republic. Felix Sanchez is a hero and an inspiration to us all. I remember watching him in Athens in '04 when he won gold. I didn't follow athletics closely at the time and didn't know who he was. 8 years later in London after losing an interest in athletics having enjoyed it for a few years, I watched Sanchez again and remembered him from Greece. It was amazing to see the same guy win the 400 hurdles 8 years apart. That kind of thing doesn't normally happen in the mankiller event. It was an astonishing feat. Good for him.

One of my favourite athletes - I was eating some delicious Dominican Republic chocolate and it made me want to relive this - very inspiring, what track & field is all about. Félix Sánchez marco un antes y un después en el deporte de República Dominicana, luego de eso comenzó apoyarse un poco más el atletismo, ya que el deporte en el que más los jóvenes pensaba solo era baseball.
