As I got older, I remember taking Power Rangers just a bit more seriously, despite them being corny and as you put it, campy. Still love the series. Even if I may not watch it now, I still respect how great the series is. Hell, my favorite english anime voice actor started out AS a Power Ranger! I even loved the Power Rangers Turbo movie. And 2 of my favorite Power Rangers are also played 2 different versions of the same character, which I didn't know until later. But there's no saving the dialogue in this movie. Way too cringey for ANYONE to believe. Like it's from another dimension or something...

Why you should use memes and references in your movie: Pro: - Someone from the audience *might* get a laugh of it *if* they watch it while the meme/reference is still a thing *and* if they think the meme/ref is funny - ? Contra: - Anyone who doesn't know the meme/ref won't find any humour in it and will have no idea what it's supposed to convey - Anyone who watches the film after the meme/ref is "dead" will think it's not funny, just cringy and outdated - It usually doesn't progress the plot or improve the dialog at all - If used incorrectly you will undeniably prove how out of touch you are with actual pop culture - If used by "smart" characters you'll make them look hella dumb Clearly, the pros outweigh the cons.

The audience knows that he's a morally corrupt man, and what he does is not encouraged, But with that freaky Principle, the scene almost romanticizes the idea of minors getting together with older people! The same goes with art, even if it's made to be disturbing, if it has good quality and skill added to it, anything can get by with me really. This scene did not.

A real reject kids group would have some kid being picked on for being disabled, fat, their race etc. But instead, like pointed out in the vid, you get moderately handsome athletic guy- who even if he was rebuffed by his team mates clearly has another group of openly gay guys in the school he could hang with or the tons of girls who already hang out with gay guys in their high school. smh, all those ' teens react to ' vids they made and they couldn't ask any of those teens about the real high school experience

I think its more of an issue with "we went to high school 30 years ago and don't realize that times have changed". Instead they go only based on what highschoolers and such say about school life, while realizing that those fucknuggets are still too young to explain and describe anything in a reasonable manner so in part it is them to give these shoddy film makers the idea that its all about emoji, texting, sex and about being popular/unpopular. I think that in general its best to never confine your film into a school and its surroundings. Even if it was done "well", it would be so uninteresting that its not worth a movie. In general these fucking teenager movies need to go as they never offer anything wortwhile. Especially when the biggest worry for a teenager is "oh my gooood I'm not pooopulaaar, oooh my good I have a test and I need to study for it". That's not interesting!

I think the problem with F the Prom is that it's based off a high school culture that doesn't exist anymore. It's like they tried to make a relatable high school movie by basing it on old high school movies instead of high school. Most of the popular kids at my school are top of their class, community volunteers, etc. The kind of "popular bully" archetype the movie relies on just doesn't exist anymore, high school culture is a lot more complicated. In a post-Columbine climate, the angry, self victimizing outcast just isn't the kind of person we root for anymore. If anything, F the Prom would've been really interesting if it'd been told through the lens of characters like Warren from Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Matt from The Dirties.

Right? I graduated high school in 2012 and the best football players also were in AP classes, played video games, and cared more about there GPA than anyone in band or whatever people would consider the nerd group. We never had any problems either, we were friends with people in band and they were friends with us. We never called them losers for not playing football or gave a shit what there interests were. It's just a strange idea that high schoolers care so much about people they supposedly have nothing in common with.

@alexandra galici: While I appreciate your point, it's not at all related to the failure of this movie. The failure of this movie is simply that it was made by people that don't know how to make movies. They should have just produced it rather than writing and directing it. The Fine Bros. aren't artists, they're business men. They should stick to their strengths. They tried to change fields while staying in their own. Have their cake and eat it too. That's the problem.
@Verasoul6 жыл бұрын
@alexandra galici: Let's be real. Was the premise for this movie or any depiction of jock/cheerleader royalty ever a reality? I think maybe Friday Night Lights got it closer to reality, but that wasn't a comedy, it was an R-Rated teen drama. And I used to enjoy the Fine Bros content. The setups with elders and kids react were pretty solid. But their cringey thumbnails, trying to trademark reaction content, and their obvious left-leaving agenda pushing earned my unsub. Speaking of subs. How the fuck do you have 113 subs and no content?

Apparently high school in the past when the writers and directors went to it also was more like that. Nowadays it has supposedly changed for better with amongs other the disappearence of "the cliques" (nerds, jocks, etc). At least that's what I read. 21 Jump Street bases it's humour on the fact that high school environment has changed for example while this movie holds a perception of stasis.

RanDOM D00D Your second point isn't true at all. I graduated in 2017 and the vast majority of our class were completely fine people. I only met a few people who were outright jerks, but they were actually the outcasts. The rest of the school fit into their own social groups and didn't bother those they didn't identify with. There was friendly rivalry between the band kids versus the sports etc, but there was basically no actually infighting or bad blood. All in all people just did their own thing, just as Jesswhatever said.

During my father's time in the 70's, hazing and initiation were common. He got the 'grandfather cut' aka seniors shaved the top of his head when he entered as a freshman. Nowadays, nobody would even think of it. I don't know of anyone who's gotten a swirlie, stuffed in a locker, or anything else cliche. I was lucky enough to go to a high school (2015 grad) that didn't have a hierarchy. Golf was our best sport; football didn't exist. In the next high school over, where they were reigning football champions, you still stuck to your own group and didn't care. The only exception was gang violence between bloods, crips, and other Varrio turf wars. And that was considered separate.

@@altaparks3627 Arguably, yeah. The director intended to make this movie unenjoyable from every possible angle: the text is always slightly off center, the camera angle is always as unflattering as possible, the characters are all obnoxious assholes, there is unsatisfying gross-out everywhere, etc. Here's one example: There is one animated scene where a man rips off another man's lower jaw. There is barely any blood, the reaction is delayed, the sound effect was scratchy, and the impact on the character getting hurt was almost non-existent. To people who do not like gross-out, this scene is repulsive. To people who do like gross-out, this scene is unsatisfying. This scene is just irritating to everyone watching it. And the WHOLE MOVIE is like that. The only positive thing I can say about the whole film is that it accomplished what it wanted to- it invoked a negative reaction out of nearly everyone who watched it.
