@@pepsiman4418 a fact that noone wants to admit is that the f2004 was designed around the grooved tyre. bridgestone catered to ferrari and made a tyre specifically for ferrari meanwhile supplying the same thing to other teams. another aspect to keep in mind is that adding slicks will not simply mean more performance, everything on an f1 car is designed to work with each other and is wildly incompatible with mix matched parts. slicks on an f2004 could change suspension behavior which in turn, affects the aero, possibly leading to an even slower lap time.

In the hybrid era you have electric energy that translates in absurd torque at low speeds and DRS, that basically is free boost in the straights, not counting the combined power output of both. V10 you only have the engine itself without turbos and a small lightweight car mounted on grooved tyres. If you put slicks and DRS in that car, maybe it could match the cars we have today in 2023'. Just a small note, counting power alone, 86's era turbo engines were even stronger, despite the bad reliability.

Quite a few of the 2004/2005 lap records still stand. If the 2004 had same slick not grooves tyres on in this video and there was no drs advantage for the merc it would comfortably faster !

@@poptop1824 I can point out several features from past cars that would make nowadays' cars even faster. The fact that V10 are way lighter even when they're fully loaded, the fact that they had much less drag on straights (now they have DRS, but only on qualy) and viceversa, and that they had ABS and TC. It is worth emphasising as well that DRS was not introduced for speed reasons, but it was introduced for racing reasons, thus it makes a difference, but the magnitude of that difference is nowhere near as big as you think, as an example, in 2019 Bottas lost pole in Italy against an illegal Ferrari engine by a minor difference for not using DRS, this proving my point, and in certain conditions drivers still struggle a lot to pass others with DRS while in race. Grooved tyres were not slow at all, i'm fact they endured a lot of laps going flat out, in counterpart, several drivers now, included Alonso and Grosjean claim that in race, they're going +5s off pace because they need to save fuel and the tyres, specially tyres, so they are not even close to going full throttle like they did before. Back then some fastest laps were even faster than pole positions, they also had refueling as well so they didn't need to save fuel, or at least not in the way they do it nowadays. Now, how fast would modern cars be if they feautured all those traits? It is senseless that i do this question because they are different regulations, and cars were designed bespoke to them, otherwise they would be ilegal, that is the evolution of technology, that's why modern cars, even when forced to save absolutely every element of the PU, sometimes even racing the same engine +8 races, and when forced to save fuel and tyres as well are way faster and much, much more reliable than any other car in history. As an example, Brazilian GP pole last year is already +2s faster than any other pole set by a V10, and still, the fastest lap is just as fast as 2004 pole. Now imagine again if they had refueling, tyres that endure as much as grooved tyres, less weight, ABS and TC, like back in the day, therefore they're allowed to fully go all out, how fast would modern cars be? Exactly, it doesn't make sense, because they wouldnt be 2020 cars anymore, and it'd be illegal. Just as V10 cars wouldnt be the 2004 cars if we put modern aerodynamics and DRS on them, it's called evolution. And as i said, cars are designed bespoke to the tyres, if V10's had slick everything would be a mess because the car is not designed for them, the car is designed to squeeze every single bit of performance out of the grooved tyres, wich are in fact better than modern tyres like i said, and i'm pretty sure all fans agree with that, otherwise, they wouldn't be complaining about modern racing And V6's are powerfull af. Even more powerful than V10's.

Cool video, but i think in real life the f2004, however much i love it and it's beautiful sound, wouldn't stand a hope in hell of being near that Mercedes at imola, except for at absolute maximum speed. Cornering, acceleration and braking are light years ahead of where they were 15 years ago. I know people don't like the v6 hybrid engines, but from a technical point of view they're the greatest engines ever made

The F2004 actually accelerates faster, it's 0.3 seconds faster to 100kph. I think that's why in this game in particular it was able to keep up.

In Monaco the current cars are about 4 seconds faster than 2004.... Straight line speed is nice, but the current cornering speed is so much higher you can't compare the two. You people should understand that in a race situation when both cars are fully loaded the W11 is much much heavier therefore slower then qualifying specs plus on a race situation they use normal soft tire not super soft, so even with grooved tires F-2004 will out perform the w11 for a quite few laps

Plus you can refuel the F2004 in race. There is no F1 graded track where the F2004 is faster than the W11.

I would say, the Ferrari f2004 had more straight line speed bcuz it had less down force and more drag meanwhile the w11 had better downforce which is superior at corners but not at straight line speed bcuz more downforce= less speed, the results is clear that both of this cars are fast with both differences
