Why isnt there a mode where you can do a set amount of laps (say 10-50) and the game recommend you an Ai difficulty based on laps times, assists used, and how well you still to the racing line

Because the AI would need multiple different strategies and also the strategies would also be different for you which is horrendously complicated and then giving you a rating is something that you can use do in career/MyTeam with track acclimatisation and the development boost of Racing line where you can see if you can stay within 2Meters of the racing line or not so that’s some help

Well, there is one, but you would have to turn the game mode to beginner and keep all of the assists on (automatic breaking and full tc and all) so I wouldn’t recommend it

Cheers for this... was struggling this year on 85.. lowered it to 75. Did a few laps & was consistently 2 tenths quicker so found the sweet spot now on 77... many thanks 👍

Same. In 2020 the AI gap times between qualy and race was ridiculous. This year they reduced the gap, but still find it quite inconsistent.

Guys the qualifying pace is slower than when in the race so for example i put the qualifying pace to 75 then the race pace to 70. So when you do the race -5 should put you back on par again it has for me anyway.

I think that's just you. I've been doing a whole season on MyTeam, and my Qualifying and Race pace work out just fine. No need to lower the AI for race pace.

@@Nadk2010 check the fuel load before the race, especially if you fail or just pass the fuel saving practice. More fuel is just extra load that influence pace and wears more the tires that influence pace more.

Yeah can be hard to adjust whilst in career mode as parts on your car and AIs car all wear down so performance changes. Whereas in GP mode all cars are at 0% wear

In my secon My team season y won the championship by 10 points, with the second fastest car on the grid and 87-90 AI. Started the new season with the same developments (still the second fastest car on the grid) and on the first two races my Qualy were awful (p10 and below). I had to lower the AI (not because I was losing, but because it became so unrealistic. MSC is my teammate and suddenly he was faster than the RB. Have you experienced issues like those? I find the progression between seasons kinda buggy and inconsistent.

Yeah, that can happen. I think the issue is that some of the R&D upgrades are actually making the car harder to drive. So you don't improve, but the AI does.

Thanks, I just did this test. With AI 60 I went 1.790 faster than Gasly, so I put in 78 AI and I was 0.700 faster than Gasly and it still felt like too much. So I put 79 e and I was only 0.352 faster and I'd say that's okay. But 79 seems high to me in competition, even if I still have to try to go in competition with 79. Advice?

hey man. i did the dry one. matched the ai with gasly to almost match timings, then did a wet quali and i am a second faster than gasly.... should i increase it more than i already have it that matches dry conditions? (i am better at wet almost every time 😅)

Yes, you can use China, as well. Try to use a circuit with a variety of different corners and a few long straights. Monza and Monaco would be bad choices.

I did this and found the AI to be too slow in other circuits. Scored a bit over 100 in Bahrain, Azerbaijan, and France. I guess I just suck at Spain considering I got scores of 81 to 87. Actually need to use around 85 in race. I seem to be terrible on anything, but fresh tires. Thanks for the video though, would have never figured this out.

What Artjom said. The AI is not equal. They are incredibly strong around Britain for example, pretty strong around Spain, too. However, I do expect a patch within the next month or two that will equalize the AI at least to some extent. The complaints in the community about the AI in Silverstone sector 2 has been pretty loud and clear.

I put the ai on 60 and tried in the dry with 5 laps, started I think in p10 or p13 and gladly 3 places behind me. I was 800 milliseconds faster than him cause there was just a frieght train of cars for the whole 5 laps l, I got p3 at the end with gasly I forget. Next I tried in the dry but started behind gasly I was in p9 I think and he was in p5, I didn't get to fin ish the race cause I got mad, I'm not a good driver in the rain but I reached until p5, I forget what place gasly was but I think 60 was a perfect choice but I feel like raising it up to 80 can't of the in the wet attempt

You can't change the difficulty once you have loaded into a session. You can only change the difficulty in between sessions or in between race weekends. Do time trials, find a setup that suits you or just Google a setup for the track your on. Watch the world record lap of that track and keep lapping and lapping. Try and do 15+ laps. It also helps to turn off your ghost and the live delta so that there's nothing putting you off. In only 15 laps I brought my Monza lap time from 1:20:5 to 1:19:5.

So I tried it and it works. Until I got back into my team's career. I started with 70, I drove 10 qualifying laps and when I didn't fuck up the turn, I was always about 0.1-0.4 s behind gasly. So that looks good, doesn't it? I'm loading a career, my team is 3 worst (season 1). I set the difficulty to 75 and guess what. I got the pole with a lead of 1.5 seconds.

it's best if you do it on a circuit your "meh" on. Not great, not awful. A middle of the road circuit. That way, you'd get great results on the circuits you're good at, and bad results on the circuits you suck at. Alternatively, you do this method on every track, since it doesn't take long. That way, you get accurate settings for every single race.

Well, divide the 9 seconds by 5 laps, so 1.8 seconds. So 58 (or round it to 60) should be the right AI setting for you.

not really, since the AI in qualifying won't be average, but in the race, they do have some variance. So you have to compare qualifying to qualifying. What you can do, however, if you can't produce your perfect lap the first time, is to run an 18-minute short qualifying and use all four sets of tyres to attempt four laps, and have your best one count.

Yes, your car will get faster, as you upgrade it. End of season tends to be a big shake-up, based on how well you and the other teams have adapted to regulation changes. You can really win or lose there.

Yes, they have made the AI harder, so that esports drivers actually have to stretch their legs to match 110 AI. On the previous game, Esports drivers did last-to-first challenges on MyTeam Season 1. So if you are 90 AI on this game, you've basically held your ability from last game.

I did a qualifying at Austria with 99 difficulty and I did a 1:03.8 and hamilton ai did a 1:02.4. Verstappen's pole lap irl this year was 1:03.7. Maybe a bug????

You cannot and should not compare ACC AI and F1 AI. Start at 50 AI, and test it with the method explained in the video. Then see where it gets you.

That is because of the rules for the F2 2020 season. For the first race, the top 10 from qualifying are reversed. So if you qualify P1, you start P10, if you qualify P10, you start P1. For the second race, the grid order from qualifying is used normally.

You're not bad at Spain. The AI is just very good. Unfortunately, I only realized that after recording this video. Choose a track other than Spain, Britain (both strong AI) or Singapore (weak AI) for this test. China might be a good choice right now, before Codemasters/EA patch the AI to be a bit more balanced.

You can go into GP mode, use this method, then set your AI to the same level in Career Mode, and you should be fine. However, for career mode, I'd suggest you use a track other than Spain. China is quite good for this test.

Absolutely yes. You can have the odd high points finish, but you should be regularly close to where your car is in the performance comparison. If you're 7th there, you should be around P11-13.

I'm winning races with keyboard at level 70 in 1st season of my team, 2nd driver (tsunoda) don't even scores points, I'm 5th in the championship as the team that only has my points. I've improved a lot in the last month I went from not winning at level 50 with regular team to winning 3 races and some podiums in the last races, but still can't do nothing about Monaco, Singapore, just being last 3 to 4 s off the pace, just penalized for installing all new components and retire from the race.

Yeah. It's the same for everyone. They made the AI generally more difficult this year. Because last year, esports drivers were doing last to first challenges on 110 AI in the MyTeam Season 1 car. This year, not so much.

What if I get into My Team, and I begin to get a faster car, and the AI also become faster, and then in some tracks the AI are slower and faster, resulting in multiple changes towards the AI level, would that make this test inaccurate?

AI getting faster in MyTeam, or you developing a faster car in MyTeam, won't make this test inaccurate. Because the AI themselves are still dependent upon their stats, and those don't change significantly. It does, however, change, based on track. Ideally, try this test at 3-4 different tracks. At Zandvoort, Spain, Silverstone, the AI seems particularly strong.

Interesting that you went with Gasly as your baseline. I felt this year that Hamilton would be a decent fit, as the Multiplayer car is essentially a Mercedes. Also interesting you went with One-Shot instead of Short. If you can bang out the lap right away that saves a heap of time 👍🏻

Yeah, for me, it works, since I've always been a very consistent driver. And Gasly works well due to his stats in the game. I don't think I want to compare myself to 92 paced Bottas. 90 paced Gasly is a nice round number. Ultimately, both will work nicely, though, as they have 99 Awareness and are therefore the most consistent and least likely to make many/big mistakes on their laps. Taking Ricciardo would also work, as Lando has 99 AWR too, with 89 Pace. I used Sainz on 2020, iirc.

I still can’t seem to find the right ai difficulty, I’m playing career with Williams. I started at 90 then was for some reason getting in q2 around 12 position I’ve bumped it up to 95 but I’m still beating cars like Alfa and sometimes alpine. Help please 😂

Look at George Russel, he drives a Williams and has made it into q3 like 2 times already. That just shows your skill and how good you have adapted to the Williams car. You shouldn’t necessarily be losing to the Alfa Romeo

I’ve noticed in the game set AI isn’t the right way to go, some tracks they’re flat out faster, some they’re extremely slow. I can do 90 in Russia but if I tried 90 in Suzuka I’d be completely outpaced

I've also noticed that 3 or 4 years into myteam for some reason the difficulty of the AI seems to increase. I am finishing in the same positions as I was during the first couple years of the mode. According to the game my car is the best car on the grid but i cannot finish on the podium with the same difficulty settings that i was able to challenge for podiums with a mid tier car.

Badgerman for the win. This worked for me in 2019 and 2020 very well. I did a short quali by the way, but the reason is the same. Will use this method again for 2021. Keep up the good work! These beginner tips and tricks videos will be highly appreciated by beginners to the F1 game, as the help from Codemasters is utter crap 😁

Thank you for this! I started on 60 as I tested myself first using another method and I found some tracks too easy and others too hard on my team mode. Initially I wanted to increase the difficulty from 60 to 70. I used your method and I turns out, I have to increase it to 65, as 70 would've been too much, for I am not that good.

You might still want to try 70 around some tracks, as the AI isn't super consistent across tracks.

@@masso392 makes sense for better or worse the ai needed to challenge people it was bringing in im all the way down to 87 after using this method of working out timing lol can probably go to 90s

This works incredibly well and I play on f1 2020, but if you are on controller you would have to do this tactic on Bahrain as Lando Norris on f1 2020.THANK YOU!
