Dude! change oil every 5k miles, especially with turbo engines and rotate your tires every 5k miles as well, 2x a month I check all tire pressures (in the morning not driven) just to make sure they are all even at recommended PSI , and while I check for tire pressure, I inspect for nails on the tires just in case...

I am an engineer with a company that remans turbochargers. I change my oil every 5000 miles My VW maintenance intervals are every 10k. Again I change my oil every 5000 synthetic. I am not going to bore with details but you want to make those turbos last as long as you own the truck. I would change your oil more frequently.

Absolutely. With a turbo or a variable camshaft engine, change that oil at 5000 and use synthetic.

All engines will have oil consumption, some more some less. Some of it is burn off. There was just a Technical Service Bulletin issued by Ford recently about oil consumption that affects the 16 year model I believe. Either the heads or the entire engine gets replaced. I personally own two, a 2015 crew cab 4x4 and a 2016 regular cab short bed 2wd both 2.7 ecos. I have zero bad things to say about this design. Both engine and chassis/body. They're fast, get good fuel mileage, nimble and easy to drive. Great truck! Although, I must point out that I work at the Ford Sterling Axle Plant and I'm in the department that builds the rear axle tubes for the 9.75 and 8.8 differential, so yes I'm biased. Good videos though. They are honest reviews!

Ford's are junk yes. But the junk tires are not Ford's fault. I've swapped tires on all my trucks before they leave the lot. Factory tires are junk and are only on there for mpg and good quiet ride.

One you need to change oil frequently. Look at the manual that came with your truck never exceed those intervals. 2 yes some oil brands say they can last longer the weak point is the filters are not meant to last that long. 3 due to EPA regulations in states s engines require a PCV system positive crankcase ventilation, with a turbo engine it slowly sucks oil and other valor out more then a naturally aspirated engine would causing the loss of oil over time. So to recap stop making up random numbers to change your oil and follow the manual. Get a catch can it will keep oil vapors off your valve seats from Turing to carbon and causing low Mpg and power loss. Certified ford mechanic

Or maybe change the oil sooner like you should

I don't believe the oil consumption is normal. Personally, when I buy a new vehicle I don't want to see oil consumption. The only ford I have owned from brand new had oil consumption issues.

Yes, with a turbo it sure is.
@RedWingsninetyone5 жыл бұрын
Definitely. Without a turbo, I use full synthetic and only stretch it to 5k miles instead of 3. But 7-9k is ridiculous

When it snows you will lose traction....just common knowledge, then you add a boosted engine with turbos so what did you expect?
