This little ole SBC running on methanol and a F2 blower is a pretty nice combo.

Guys build an LS if they want to spin 7000 RPM and don't want to lash a solid roller or be out of pocket on day 1 for cylinder heads. It's funny though that the most powerful LS engines are built in blocks that use SBC style 4 bolt splayed mains without the y-block bottom 5th and 6th bolts vs dowels. The SBC 4.125" bore being the same price as a 4" bore block (unlike the LS) will keep it relevant for big HP builds, along with the wide array of aftermarket support. The LS is great for a Junkyard swap or a fuel injected simple build if you have one, but real racers still build SBC's.

For sure. I have a twin turbo 305 tpi setup that I've already built the upgrade 406 for. I also have a compound turbo tpi setup that I just got my 355 block from the machinest. I've got a 421 for an upgrade for that setup I just started and just purchased rotating assembly for a 462 sbc will be getting machined soon which will be the final engine for the compound setup. I love sbc's and bbc's of course I have a handful or so of those as well.

@@mctigmctiggy1475 In my opinion there’s a tipping point where it just makes more sense to step up to a big block. Once you hot 1000 hp the Big Block becomes more economical in $$$ per horsepower comparison

@@mctigmctiggy1475 all those billet block “hemis” are based on big block architecture and the old Arias hemis. Look at Frieburger’s big block in his model A over 1000 hp NA with zero exotic parts, a conventional mechanical fuel pump still bolted to the block and less than 500” put a couple of big twins on that with efi and 2500 no sweat

Great pc here. I still see plenty way sbc stuff than LS unless when its guys who want dependable last hp. Other it seems like I go to these back of the track events and it's junkyard 5.3 central and they push them to the limits and push head gaskets ever 4 passes or blow them up on a reg and just get another $150 5.3 block. Just drives me crazy. Plus there is so many more aftermarket and custom conventional style sbc parts that I'll stick with conventional sbc and bbc.
Hell yea Big blocks are for dump trucks , this is Screamer for 400 ci

Could that blower inlet be clocked, so that the runner could be shorter and straighter? Those three 90's could easily explain the waves in the curve. They create pressure waves which move upstream, when the fast moving air hits the back wall of the bend. There's also a stream inside that pipe, that hits directly at the tangent point of the second bend, and bounces straight back towards the blower. One smooth curve from the outlet to the throttle body should straighten the power curve right up.

@@bigboreracing356 Another shiny part slapper.. Real tuning is a different game than swinging your credit card and buying the shiniest pile of parts you can find. It's about getting the best results from the pile you already have. If you don't get that, stop wasting my time.
@oikkuoek2 жыл бұрын
@@bigboreracing356 There are several ways to waste money, one is slapping a pile of shiny bits together, and then chasing your tail at the dyno, or at the track/race when you don't have a clue how they work, or why they are doing what they are doing.
@oikkuoek2 жыл бұрын
@@bigboreracing356 A bit of a geometry lesson here for you, fan boi. Clocking the housing and straightening the pipe doesn't go any higher than the existing inlet fitting on the intake. And the gain is already explained @ the first comment. Also actually racing that thing requires extra ventilation through the hood anyways, otherwise it just melts into a blob.
