I will never get into toptier as long as these battles are the way they are. 5 minutes, one-sided, missiles flying left and right, no dogfights whatsoever. Shame it's what Gaijin is focusing on, as it is no fun at all

Compared to the F16 you get two more sparrows and trade every single advantage the F16 has. Even with 9Ls its my least favorite top tier.

That's true, but with 4 sparrows I'm much more willing to try those longish range BVR shots than I would on the f16 with only 2. With only 2 I try to save the sparrows for those 4-7 km-ish headon shots where its a near guaranteed kill cause its too close for them to get into a notch. And I guess it gets a slightly lower BR as well, but that doesn't really matter RN as its the same matchmaker 90% of the time.

@@oriontraps6882 "just" worse flight performance, as if there isn't a night and day difference... the EJ Kai has the absolute worst flight performance of any plane at top tier, while the F-16 has outstanding flight performance. Good players can very easily flare 9Ls and defeat 7Fs. The EJ Kai is absolutely helpless in those situations and I don't like flying planes that rely on fighting bad enemies. Yeah dogfights aren't super common, but saying flight performance doesn't matter just isn't right.

@@jaek_898 ummm have you flown the harrier gr7 so much slower and worse maneuverablity not to mention the tornado all at the same damn tier and games litterly last minutes and rarely gett into dogfights if you are trying to avoid them plus it has and amazing radar arguably the best pair with 4 sparrows and 4 9ls also if you didn't know the last patch they incresead the range of 9ls and decreased the rear aspect seeking abilities of almost all the ir missles making it easier alot easier to flare. And if the f16 only has better manuveability at lower speeds

Damn you, I had to dogfight a yak 30 with 3 teammates to win a few days ago. I was in an f86F-35, and that fight lasted like 4 minutes. The Yak ended up losing its energy and was shot down.

Not Joob but currently for top tier content no, buuuuuut remember Japan does have the F-2 (cracked F-16 basically, though we are far from that), and the F-15 still going to be a while for either of those but it's a "fast" tech tree to get through but currently there don't have really anything unique or really going for them except the Ej Kai but it's still just a phantom

I keep thinking about getting the F-4EJ premium (when it's 50% off again) but the F-4EJs *all* sound like they're over-tiered. The F-4EJ ADTW has a BR one increment lower than the F-4S, and two increments lower than the EJ Kai. It doesn't sound like that makes up for its inferior missiles.

My f14 has no aim9l but it has 6 sparrows and two aim 9hs and the radar is the same because i only play arcade and there is no problem with the radar from the f14(even the mig 29 loses the lock more times in realistic than my f14 in arcade namely never)

Since they said Japan will get a new rank 8 next major patch, do you think Gaijin will stay true to their word? The only option that’s possible right now is the XF-2A, since the F-2A is too advanced and if the F-15J was added, US mains would complain that they didn’t get an F-15.

I feel like if they add the F-15 only to japan it would be kinda BS and I'm a Japanese main. The way they gave out an F-16 to practically every nation without a single thought, but only gave Russia the MIG-29 when Germany needed a good top tier fighter. It just seemed extremely biased to me.

The Mitsubishi F-2A is based on the F-16C block 40, it is unlikely to come in the next update before the US even receives its first F-16C.

The game it self is in a horrible state. Should have just made ec maps exclusive for 11.0-12.0 only. 9.0 br doesn’t need EC maps when jets don’t go that fast and have no bvr capabilities. Gaijin just messed up big time this update. Grinding is like 10 times more painful than getting kicked in the balls now becasue of the maps

Mmmmm.... Flight performance not sure. Now this is for the F-4E U.S. But I have dogfight and won against MiG-29s. At higher speeds the F-4E get roughly 2 one circle turns before the Mig-29 BARELY begins to out turn you. Most of my kills on Mig-29s actually stem from gun kills where me and a Mig-29 get into a high-speed dogfight where I end up being the victor. If I don't kill him with the first pass, have another to at least crit him. In general, the F-4E is a beast at 800kmh and above, and you need to at least have a margin, so around 850 kmh. Basically, a margin to bleed speed so you can turn tighter, when an F-5 or J-7E gets nose on. F-16s? Pray.

Man top tier sucks shit so hard. As soon as you move forward from the 10.7 matchmaker, it becomes horribly boring. This "either team melting down in 2 minutes" thing makes it a very poor experience. War Thunder needs to rework its game modes.
