Could this not be a way for Netflix to protect their investment into raw by getting out in front of the allegations, try to set the narrative and distance themselves from Vince since wwe is still getting sued?
@kellyvaters1689
@kellyvaters1689 3 ай бұрын
It was largely already in the can a while ago. However, the amount spent on this documentary, combined with all the business and legal drama to follow, put the network in a conundrum. They had to put it out because otherwise it would have been a waste of millions in production costs spent; plus it might have been seen as another “catch and kill” scenario which might have hurt Netflix reputationally. At the same time, it couldn’t be released without the Janel Grant case mentioned because it had to acknowledge the most recent developments, again to head off accusations of it being a puff piece or, worse, of “catch and kill”. Netflix, and WWE, want to present pro wrestling as having moved on from this level of malfeasance. To glorify the man on top of this growth, in the face of his role in keeping this evildoing going, would have undermined that movement and might, over time, might have placed a huge target on the industry’s back.
@DJSkandalous

But why do this at the expense of fracturing their relationship with TKO WWE? Smackdown replay, PLE and Network bidding will be coming up soon. Doing this without their approval doesn't make any sense.

There were a lot of companies who were trying to cancel deals on the 2 days after the announcement of the lawsuit. We just didnt hear from all of them. Im sure Netflix was one of them. Sponsors/Networks were major factors that pushed the board into getting rid of Vince as well as the allegations.

Didn't Netflix cancel the doc once the sexual abuse news broke? I thought this entire time it was a cancelled project, then bam, Netflix releases a 90 second trailer. So I was super surprised to see they're releasing it, especially after WWE signed with Netflix. You certainly don't wanna start your new relationship off with a hit piece on the company and former owner. Interesting way to kick off a partnership, indeed. Even if they don't sensationalize too much, it's still an ugly story to tell. The idea of forcing people to sign NDA's as a tactic to cover criminal behavior is an interesting topic I hope they explore. I remember Harvey Weinstein practiced similar shit in his case.

"WWE didnt have Veto power"....really? Netflix only did a deal for Raw. They cant do a deal for the Network, PLE's, and Smackdown replays untill 2026. You honestly think Netflix would do this without TKO's secret approval when they know that negotiation is on the horizon in 2 years? Stop it. TKO/WWE have tons of leverage here and know it. This has a organized hit piece written all over it. Not defending Vince, we all knew he was like this. But to say WWE couldnt stop this is a bit naive.

Almost done with the series now, and I don't know why Vince would possibly be afraid of it. It really doesn't present anything new that a hundred other docuseries on the WWE hasn't covered and many of the interviews are infact lifted from them, it seems. Edit. Only like rhe last 20 mins I think really shed a negative light on him mostly due to the recent news but even then it's stuff we already knew so it doesn't hurt him more than it already has.

The fake stuff literally comes from “media” like Dave and Brian. The word you’re looking for gentlemen, is fixed. Fake wouldn’t eat up a body the way the business does. You’re where this change could start. As a former wrestler I was never bothered by the word fixed, fake always bothered me.
@thylocene0606

People need to just stop being sensitive about the word because “fixed” isn’t the right word either. Stunt workers in movies literally fall off buildings and get hit by cars but you never see them complaining about their work being called fake. The attitude toward the word comes 1 from kayfabe and 2 from a legitimate issue of media tending to look down on the sport. It's time to let that shit go though. Kayfabe is dead and buried and who gives a toss about the media when wrestling is bigger than it's ever been. Yea slams hurt. Yea some of the stuff wrestlers do is dangerous. But when two wrestlers step into a ring their goal is to put on a show and keep each other safe, not injure each other.

@@crunchinjellyLet me first say none of us know if it's true or not, now if this woman was trafficked and was in this insane situation that she didn't want to be in why did she not end the relationship? Why did she at end presuming she grew strong and decided she needed to stand up why did she accept payment and not get Vince arrested? Why was she living allowing Vince to pay for her lifestyle, if she was so scared why did she allow him to pay her rent etc letting him know exactly where she was it's all bit to familiar with alot of guys who have had a crazy ex, obviously this version is exaggerated accusations but there are alot of red flags from both accuser and defendant, it's really unprofessional the way thee's so called wrestling media guys just talk like Vince did it and want us to believe he did, mostly they just want to pretend to care so they don't turn viewers off guys like sapp so transparent way they agree and disagree with whichever opinion is popular, dave and rest of thee's guys need to remember Vince has right to fair trial without bias if this case goes to court all thees talking heads making harder to get fair trial and could end up hurting victims chance for speedy outcome there will be legal pressure from vince team to make sure jury hasn't heard the reports but they don't care lol it's all about there content which is fine but don't pretend to care about Janel grant, let thees 2 parties have fair trial and then if guilty condemn until then stfu media.

@@crunchinjellyyou proving the point that shes full of shit. WWE has a policy that employees not supposed to screw around thats why he put a NDA out duhhh. It's not good for the boss to fuck around with employees and she definitely was a side chick
