I'm glad I watched this review! I saw a set like this but the case is completely white and the packaging is a blue cardbox, which means it's their student line (red = kids line, blue = student line, dark green = professional/artist line). I wonder if there's a difference between the 2, bc the paints look the same, just different packaging and colors in the boxes.

When swatching, i really recommend you to pre-wet it because you will get the fullest pigment of the color so you can see how dark or light really it is compared to the non pre-wetted.

Yes, I truly understand that. What I would just want to show, when I don't rewet them prior swatching is which one rewets the easiest. Anyway, when I do the sample paintings, they're already wet, and I already see the full potential of the pigments.😊

Cleo Cenizal please don’t buy. I had this one from China. It is not a good quality watercolor. The budget watercolor from China such as Paul Rubens Mei Liang watercolor is much better and cheaper

Hahaha. Salamat po! 😍 Sana pati. Yung mga tutorials, insta like and watch din. 😂 Hmmm. Hindi naman parang gouache, kasi ung iba, transparent naman. Tsaka ung gouache kasi opaque, creamy and pantay ang latag ng kulay. Ito kasing faber, hindi e. Ayun. Sa ngayon kasi focused ako sa watercolor.. Pero open din nmn sa ibang mediums minsan lalo kung water based like gouache. Sa ngayin, ang gouache ko lang is yung sa Caran d ache. Itong himi or miya, pang 5 ka nq ata nag suggest sakin.. Hehe. Mura lang nmn siya, kqya lng iniisip ko hindi ko siya magagamit after review since angdami ko nang watercolors.. If ever, baka ibenta ko.. Im not sure nga lang kung may bibili. Hehe

What type of water color do u recommend Opaque type or Transparent? Which one is best? And what color water color brand is best for u? What brand do u recommend regardless the price? I hope u answer my question, I watch most of ur videos searching which is better opaque or transparent type. 😁

Hi. In my latest videos, you'll notice that i begin to be more vocal to saying that my top brand is Daniel Smith. 🎨☺️ Watercolors are meant to be transparent and translucent generally as opposed to poster paints and gouache which are opaque in general. But we need to always remember that paints are colored by pigments that have different characteristics. Pigments are mixed with binders and fillers as well for some brands. Some watercolors are opaque because of these additives or extenders like 'chalk' that make these brands cheap. Some watercolor colors are opaque because it uses the natural appearance of a specific Pigment, like the cadmiums and cobalts. That is why i am very particular with pigment codes if youd noticed. So, if you see cadmium yellow using the genuine Pigment PY35, you can expect it to be opaque and its totally fine. But if you see a Cadmium yellow that uses a different pigment plus a white Pigment, that is a hue and is lessed preferred, unless you dont like genuine cadmium pigments. It can sound technical and needs further explanation.. but for me, ofcourse i would always love a set that js generally transparent. But it wont also hurt if my set includes some opaque colors as long as it is because theyre made out of naturally opaque colors and not by chalk, extenders or white pigments that make it pastel or opaque. I would rather have these opaque cadmiums or cobalts than immitation mixes. Also, opaque watwrcolors are still much more transparent as compared to gouache. You painting technique still can make a difference and can make translucent painting even if you use some opaque paints. I hope youre getting my point. ☺️

So I'm wondering about the paper you used. It does make a difference if you use cheap paper as well. I always use Arches watercolour paper for everything. But you being a professional, you already know this. I always thought that Faber Castell was one of the better quality items for painting and drawing. This demonstration surprised me.

Yes, i put Arches on top, so i use it in all my reviews to be fair. I was also surprised about the quality of these paints. yes, it is a fun/student grade set, but it is not on the cheap side, so i was expecting more. The colors are vibrant but as you can see, the texture is weird. still workable and useable but considering the price, there are a lot that are better than this popular set. :)

@@AllanJayQuesada The White Nights colours are really beautiful. I've never heard of them until you mentioned them. They are relatively cheap too compared to Windsor and Newton. Windsor and Newton is very expensive here in Australia. I looked at Paul Rubens paints just recently online. Could you comment on them?

@@1toshi32 yes, White Nights are some of the cheapest artist grade paints and that's why i recommend them for those in tight budget but want to transition to artist grade. I have a review of Paul Rubens, please check it out too. Paul Rubens being made in China, are also very cheap. They promote the product as artist grade, and they perform well. But still, i have doubts on the overall production quality because of some questionable details and errors in their packaging and labeling..

Hard to choose. Windsor & Newton is the brand I use but it doesn't hurt to look for a cheaper alternative that works as well.
