𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗙𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗘: Homeless Woman Protests as Venice Beach Cleanup Continues

On Friday, January 3, 2025, a multi-agency task force conducted a cleanup around the Venice Beach area to address persistent safety and sanitation concerns. Departments involved included LAPD, Park Rangers, Public Works, County Beaches and Harbors, and specialists from Clean Harbors Environmental Inc.
During the operation, a homeless woman camping near Muscle Beach was asked to relocate to allow sanitation crews to clear debris. Although initially upset and vocal, she ultimately complied with Park Rangers' requests and moved her belongings.
Sanitation crews, equipped with protective gear, ensured the safe disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste, adhering to strict safety protocols.
Throughout the operation, enforcement of Los Angeles Municipal Code 63.44.b, which prohibits camping in public parks and beaches, proceeded without incident. LAPD and Park Rangers maintained a strong presence to ensure security and the smooth progress of the cleanup.
Support from LAHSA included distributing essential supplies such as food, water, and hygiene kits to those affected. A representative from Councilwoman Traci Parks' office attended the event, underscoring the city’s commitment to balancing public safety with compassionate outreach.
City officials reaffirmed their plans for ongoing cleanup efforts as part of a broader initiative to maintain cleanliness, safety, and accessibility in public spaces.

Being homeless is very difficult. California is in a futile battle against homelessness, inflation, high rentals and a drug epidemic are just s few of the seeds not being taken care of.

Do you know what else is difficult? Going to work 8 to 12 hours a day, maybe more, 5 or 6 days a week. Staying away from drugs and alcohol and making good life decisions. There are cheaper places to live than southern California, and there are jobs all across the country. These people need rehab and / or mental health treatment. Allowing them to refuse help, trash public property, do whatever they want, verbally abuse the city, and county workers isn't helping anyone. A functioning society needs rules, and for some reason, homeless people are not required to follow them.
