Sadly, nowadays street homeless are drugs addicts, and they are addicted to cocktail of nasty chemicals such as fentanyl, horse tranquilizer, elephant tranquilizer, sedative benzo, rat poison, nitazenes chemicals, P2P based meth, wasp dope, and other nasty stuff. That is in the pills they smoke all day long. They are quickly damaged mentally and physically beyond the point of repair. If they are aggressive, screaming, talking gibberish, talking to imaginary people, they are on meth and wasp dope. One dosage of P2P based meth causes paranoia and schizophrenia after only one dosage. Street addicts gradually destroy everything around.

How do we give care without taking away his God given freedom? How do we propose to balance his protection from harm, against his right to freedom? He has the right to live free. We can criminalize it by calling it loitering or trespassing, crimes that can be committed just by existing or by simply being somewhere, but that won't fix the problem either. Some people will insist on living outdoors and unless we are willing to give them a life sentence or put them to death in labor camps like Hitler did, than we cannot simply force them indoors. The beach users didn't seem to mind much, they still held soccer practice, bike riders went by, dog walkers passed, even people with kids went by as if the man weren't there.

The problem with people like you is that time and time again you keep failing to realize that even mentally ill people have the right to deny medical help. Not all homeless are mentally ill, many are drug addicts, many choose to live like this and collect their government benefits.

I love people like this woman who just keeps going and isn’t intimidated. That said, I don’t see anyone else there if this guy gets violent. And these people aren’t living on the streets just for fun. I wouldn’t get too close to all that stuff by myself. Still, nobody wants to see all that stuff when they come to the parks to exercise or bring their kids to the playground. I’m glad they’re a little more proactive about clearing than they used to.

This reminds me of getting my daughter to clean up her room. I finally put four boxes in her room one for toys, one for clothes, one for trash, and one for everything else. I put a chair by the door, and sat in the chair and then I would direct her by pointing and saying "that goes in the trash, that goes with the toys, that goes with the clothes." I did that to get her to do the work so that I didn't have to. By the time she was 10 I gave her a laundry basket, and showed her how to wash her own laundry so she could do it herself. These homeless people seem more like children than adults. I can't believe they have to have police officers doing this.

She does not work for the city. She works for a so-called non-profit which uses taxpayers' money and pays their top executives 200 grand while they send workers like this woman to clean up this disaster with a broom and dust pan instead of a hazmat team. The "non-profit", Chrysalis has a lucrative contract with the city and the city saves money because they don't have to pay city sanitation workers union wages and benefits. I have an Uncle, Homeless in the city of Whittier, not far from Venice. He's just like this. He's been like this for years. We've had family try to coddle him, let him move his stuff in destroy their backyards, and it's never made the situation better. But what does make it better I've noticed is exactly what this lady is doing. Put his Shit in the trash can tell him to leave! Exactly what the governor of this state is afraid. My uncle has always been the type to hate direction. But it's always what he's NEEDED. Accountability. I love this woman's bravery.

I gave him that quilt (blanket) on the right bench when I was in third grade (I'm gonna be 20) we went to Santa Monica for the first time and we were on the beach all day and were leaving when it was dark and cold, we saw him sitting on a bench cold and I had my favorite blanket with me and I had a choice to make since no one wanted to ket me give him a different one so I gave him mine and I'm kind of surprised he still has it but I mean it keeps you cool when its warm and warm when its cold lol but hope all in his situation one day get the help they need for themselves and hopefully the world doesn't continue on the path that it's on but god bless you all and stay positive regardless of what's going on *Edit: I also didn't type this for "likes" or anything lol. It hurt me giving my favorite blanket and the only one I took with me on the trip at the time (especially being a kid), I know my blanket and the man who needed help when I see it/him. Believe it or don't lol the story wasn't for you neither was the event. It was for him. Someone in need and who is clearly struggling still but I'm glad that he at least can carry around a great quilt as long as he has.*

It's obviously a sign of severe mental illness. Schizophrenia, most likely. As a matter of fact, many people with very high IQs have mental illnesses. The unabomber is an example. I worked with a woman whose brother was a physics professor at University of California. The mental illness kicked in and he ended up on the streets. I have a friend who has a family of cousins who are extremely intelligent, but obviously mentally ill. They can't hold jobs, one lives in his car, others are serious hoarders.

That's ridiculous. Slowly but surely. These people must be forced to live in a social housing payed by the city. There has to be a law created saying it's not allowed to camp on city streets. Police and Park Rangers have to control it. Remove all tents and illegal housing with trash within 24 hours. Where there is a will there's a way.
