FACE SCANNING WITH YOUR PHONE STEP-BY-STEP WORKFLOW

Hi, Here is my entire process from start to finish using some videos sent to me by a subscriber, I cut out some boring bits but also left in plenty as I just hate editing anything over 20m mins so apologies if there are some bad cuts and coughing and burping and stuff like that. I'll make more of these so if you still aren't sure don't worry. I also forgot to do the little round dots in the eyes! next time.....I may start a twitch channel or live YT, let me know if you are interested? As usual comment and suggestions are more than welcome!
I wasn't told what phones were used to do the filming, Samsung S20 I think?
This video is aimed only at those interested in 3D scanning and printing as this quad/tri mix geometry is not fit for any other purpose. I will dynamesh and re-topo in other vids if you want more zbrush?
Either way, editing this took way longer than doing it! Im new to massive tutorials so please bear with me while I find my feet!

Really appreciate the post, this is an awesome starting point to learn from! I wonder if smooth peaks or smooth valleys could speed up the clay build up pipeline.

Not really in my experience if im honest. Ive tried with and without and minimal smoothing with the standard smooth still works best for me.

All these are resin but i have used filament in the past.

Could you do a video of a full body scan? Also, if the person that is being scanned lives in another country- do you provide them with instructions on how they need to do the pictures?

I wouldnt recommend doing a full body scan using a phone. Get a better camera for that.

I used a note 4 for years. As long as its in focus it will work. Dont go under 1080p.

Without doing all these things we can take a photo of person and convert that person's pic in metahuman or in iclone headshot then automatically that person's face get created then we can do direct 3d printing of that model is it possible ?

Yiu still need to scan the head for metahuman. My process is just manual cleanup for a better metahuman model. You cannot create a whole head with one photo. Metahuman is less representative than a raw scan anyway. You cant avoid at least a bit of cleanup. But to be honest after doing a few it really doesnt take that long per head.

I could but it would take a long time and my long videos dont get promoted on yt at the mo, it preffers shorter ones. So i get very little views.

From 1:47:40 to 1:49:35… I don’t understand why you built up the back of the head when @ 1:49:35, it looks like you just pasted the hair back on and started editing the hair? What was the point of building up the back of the head?

I build up back of heads for practice and to be able to use the models with different haircuts. I know on single models its pointless. I also like to see the head underneath if i do partings in the hair.

Thanks, I use a Wacom cintique companion 2. But its really old now. I just ordered the 2019 wacom mobile studio pro as an upgrade even though its not that nee either. You just cant beat it for zbrushing on the go.

If you don't use the mask images and just let the software do a point cloud of everything, and then delete the points that you don't need, would affect the quality? It's a bit faster for me. Thanks!
