In this video, I share footage of my October return trip to Isla Guadalupe. October is all about large female white sharks. I came face to face with the largest shark I've ever seen. I also explain how different it is here in August compared to late October. I filmed shark jumping straight out of the water, and the seals along the rugged coast with large sharks nearby. Additionally, this video discusses the importance of shark tourism and its value to the continued protection of Guadalupe Island. Ohh and did I say I filmed many

I met a Great White while Abalone hunting near Catalina Island and it was the scariest experience I can recall, bar none. I only had a mask, fins and snorkel and had to hold my breath longer than I've ever held it before, as it passed overhead. I had just pulled an Abalone and was about to push off the bottom to the surface when I saw it coming straight at me from maybe 50 ft away. I just kind of hunkered down in a crevice of rock while it passe by. Being less than ten feet from something so large and powerful was both horrifying and exhilarating at the same time.

Idk how people can go to waters with sharks and abalone hunting is so risky. I love seeing docs about it :) if it was not for the sharks it would be a great profession altough in australia etc there’s probably other dangerous and not just sharks 🤭

You mention "each with their own personality". I keep telling people sharks have individual personalities. Especially the hammerheads I've dived with. Some are shy, some are inquisitive. Same goes for mantas (some LOVE diver bubbles)...but none more so than tigersharks off the Aliwal Shoal in South Africa who react differently to divers they recognize. Gentle giants indeed.

The world needs more people like you, fighting for the marine environment, and the flora and fauna that inhabit it. Orcas actual don't seem to usually turn up to places high in great white convergence and lingering. Only occasionally. Probably for the safety of their young ones. If orcas routinely seeked out and targeted great whites then they'd be turning up at great white hot spots frequently. They don't. I suspect when great whites get too close to orcas then they might sometimes attack them. This is what happened at the Farallon Islands in 1997. They were there to attack sea lions. A juvenile great white then appeared and swam towards them and was then killed. Orca v great white is rare.

Nobody HAS to cage dive. A Marine Biologist, Robert Marc Lehmann, recently talked about cage diving and does NOT recommend it, because it contains a lot of risk for divers and for sharks. He talked about it while commenting on a video that showed an accident with cage diving, where the (great white i think) sharks head got stuck in the cage and the shark couldn't get out (cause a shark cannot swim backwards), got seriously injured and died.

I think the concept of a living great white being of greater value than a dead one is just huge! They bring researchers and let’s face it, tourists. The kind that will spend money to see them, to stay for several days, to eat while they’re there. I would imagine that the Discovery channel comes down to capture footage for shark week! It’s got to pump money into the local economy. That’s important. Not to mention what it does for those of us who just want to see these creatures live in “their” home, the world’s oceans. Only just seen this. Longtime follower. Your content is without doubt some of the best on the planet of white sharks. Your aerial perspective has allowed us to see behaviours that I've never observed. You continue to smash it. Absolutely loved seeing the baby white shark recently. Such great work. So good to see you getting recognition. I wish I could afford to go to Guadalupe and see for myself but you're probably the best I'm going to get. Thank you.

What a beautiful video! As always! I love your pacing and music and calm voice and exceptional skill in editing/video production. These are so calming to me. I found your channel when I was waiting at the hospital while my dad had surgery and it brought me peace and Ive been watching over the couple years since then. I love their pectoral fins for some reason. As a pilot I love aerodynamics and hydrodynamics are very similar so I always think of them as wings. Man, KZbin's compression really dislikes the water surface shots!

I was salmon fishing in Monterrey Bay. We were in a 17' boat, when a white shark swam next to us. I was nervous, as you might expect, seeing a shark this big, but I wasn't expecting how big around it was! As big around as my car!

Great whites also show up in numbers at Isla Guadalupe in October for the migration of yellowfin tuna. I went there on a sport boat for about 8 years and had numbers of trophy tuna intercepted by what we call the sharks, “the taxman”. Ominous sights, photos and memories that’ll never be forgotten
