My great-great grandfather John R. Streetman was a Sgt in K Company, 10th Reg't, TN Infantry CSA. He was a Wagoner, and taken prisoner at the battle of Fort Donelson, TN 16 February 1862. He was sent as a P.O.W. to Camp Douglas, but managed to escape later that year. He was very fortunate to get out of that place. I've not found any further service records on him, so he probably laid low until after the war was over, and returned to Mississippi by 1870.

Very interesting, a little bit on several different people. My favorite was about Jessie Owens, one of the best athletes ever born. Loved him as a person, and athlete. When he won we should of heard a roar over the world. Hitler was so mad, he hated America already, and for a black man to win this, in his country was like a direct slap to him. Hitler was the biggest racist, I think that ever lived. I feel the Americans were lucky to leave Germany after the games. Thank you great video.

I have two suggestions for video's 1. Battle Creek Michigan "Custer National Military Cemetery." Besides being a beautiful wooded National Cemetery it has a unique section of 26 Nazi soldier graves. This was originally the site of Camp Custer, a WW I and WW II training base. Now It is a MI Air Guard base. Nearby is The Battle Creek VA Hospital Camp Custer also was a German POW Camp. Not sure how most died. I think some were from wounds and died at the VA hospital Some look like May 8 1945 suicides. Several Germans were killed in a massive traffic accident. this section is away from the American graves area 2. South Lyon, Michigan "Michigan War Dog Memorial " Filled with hundreds of military war dogs. Some are famous. Monuments to war dogs too. It was recently refurbished. Nice website for this cemetery

I don't think your officially Italian unless you have a mobster in the family. I'm pretty positive that my mom's brother was mixed up in this mob stuff. He had the most secret life I've ever heard of. He was superintendent of the sewer department in Chicago but never went to work. His paychecks were mailed to our house. He was always dressed up in a suite and tie. Everything he owned was in my dad's name, even though my uncle had three adult children. He'd come over with brand new expensive clothes that still had price tags on them, and would tell us to take whatever fit us. He'd drive top of the line Lincolns and trade them in for a new one every year. Those were in my dad's name too. My husband ran the plate once and it came back with my dad's name and address. He always had a phone in his cars when other people just had landlines. He always had a ton of money in his pocket. When I was a teenager, he'd send me to the store to get a 10.00 carton of cigarettes and then give me a 50.00 tip for going. Nothing was in his name. He owned three homes and an apartment building. The houses were in Park Ridge, Chicago and Florida. Those were in my dad's name too. He knew old Mayor Daley and all of these judges. My dad would file his own taxes and look like a multimillionaire but most of it was my uncles money. If he owed taxes, My uncle would give my dad the money to pay it. I used to ask my parents why he got a paycheck from the city mailed to our house but he never worked. My parents would never answer me. He wore diamond jewelry and gold chains. You don't make that kind of money on a superintendents salary, that's for certain. When he came over after my daughter was born, he said "Flo, come here". I walked over to him and he hands me 500.00 and says "Go buy Chrissy something nice". This was in 1980 when 500.00 was worth a whole lot more then it is now. It was just really crazy. The man had a heart of gold with all of us. To this day, I don't know what he was up to, but he was definitely up to something, that I know for sure.

Big Jim was Johnny Torrio's uncle, who owned Colosimo's nightclub. Big Jim was kllled, allegedly, by Al Capone, who convinced Torrio that his uncle had to go so the bootlegging business could be expanded. He did marry a young woman named Dale, last name unknown to me, after he divorced his first wife. Colosimo was allegedly denied burial in consecrated ground.

You're very wrong about Hitler snubbing Owens, in his own words "Owens said, “Hitler didn’t snub me - it was FDR who snubbed me. The president didn’t even send me a telegram.”[13] On the other hand, Hitler sent Owens a commemorative inscribed cabinet photograph of himself.[14] Jesse Owens was never invited to the White House nor were honors bestowed upon him by president Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) or his successor Harry S. Truman during their terms. In 1955, President Dwight D. Eisenhower honored Owens by naming him an “Ambassador of Sports.”
