Here’s an interesting fact. Although hitler was initially upset that Jesse Owens was outperforming the German athletes, he actually shook hands with Owens, congratulated him, and even sent him a commemorative photo of himself. Ironically FDR didn’t even acknowledge Owens’ achievements. In Germany Owens was even able to stay in the same hotels as whites. One of the few times hitler showed greater class than franklin Roosevelt.

Lamont At Large well, it is rather hard to believe that African Americans were treated better in pre-war nazi Germany than they were At home. I took a class long ago on African Americans and foreign affairs during that time period and many of them believed that America with its segregation and Britain with its colonialism were really not much different from the fascists. The African American “double V” campaign during the war concentrated on victory against fascism at home and abroad.

I remember as a kid I was terrified of the cemetery. My g/mother always said there’s nothing to fear of the dead, it’s the living you have to worry about. How very true that statement is. Thank you Lamont for caring about these poor souls. Love your videos, never stop doing them. New sub, you had me hooked from first video I watched.

They are not poor souls. You have to have some money to be buried there and to afford those markers.

When I was 15, I was given a motorcycle by my parents, I got my license: when bad things were happening and I didn't think I could get through another second of life, I'd get on my bike and ride out to the country, to an old family cemetery, I would scream until I was hoarse and cried till I had no tears left to shed. Cemeteries have always felt comforting to me. Thank you, Lamont, for saying what you said about Cemeteries!!!

I read up more about Tyjuan Poindexter....I was curious about the wrestling belt he had on his grave. Here's what his mother talked about... He loved everybody," she said. "Every time when I'm down, he says, 'Hey, Mom, what can I do?' " In his spare time, he would draw designs for custom gym shoes. And he was obsessed with wrestling, she said, especially Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Crystal, I feel terrible for this young man's mother in loosing her son, all the protection was not enough to save him. We need to get together as one people to acknowledge where our true problems and threats come from only then will see progress. I used to live near a cemetery and every morning as I walked to work I'd read some of the headstones and wondered how they died, but never actually entered as I was afraid I'd get kicked out. Thanks to you, Lamont, I am now comforted in the thought that there are people like me who find cemeteries to be fascinating places.
@Lovelybones19735 жыл бұрын
When my children were very small, I took them to cemeteries and we would walk around and I would read the inscriptions to them and if there were photos on the grave stones, we would discuss the people and try to imagine how they were when they were alive. There is nothing creepy or unnatural about the feeling of peacefulness found in cemeteries. It is good to teach our children if our own mortality and to not fear death. I am glad your channel popped up in my suggestions. I enjoy them.

Being my little sisters father figure since dad died, I found myself being the one too explain death too them. I told them both the same thing. "Death is nothing too be scared of. If there is nothingness, then it won't matter because we won't even know it. If there is any kind of afterlife, then we will get too meet our loved ones on the other side. All you need too worry about in life is being a good person, and in death that is what people will remember of you".

@Bonzi_Buddy5 жыл бұрын
That cemetery was corrupt and bodies were disinterred, buried on top of one another and it was a general mess with many stones of the forgotten being removed and used to bury new bodies. Corpses were stacked up in back rooms and whatnot... They actually exhumed Till to make sure he was still there in his casket which he was. It was a "black owned" cemetery.

Lamont, this one really grieved my spirit. So many just senselessly murdered. I have a unique family, I’m one of the only caucasians and have always loved, and been loved by my amazing family. My prayer is that: the young ones in the street would just stop killing each other. It’s bad enough to experience racism and hate, but to be coldly murdered because of the colors you wear, shoes, hat, grill, tat... Stop internal genocide, you are giving the media exactly what they want, and those, THOSE PIGS, are the REAL enemies. Not the 15 year old from up the block thats just trying to fit in. Don’t make your mama and your grand mommy choose your casket, and water the grass growing on top of you with they’re tears. The world NEEDS the greatness you possess inside.

I love your videos, please don't stop making them. As a matter of fact they could be longer. I could listen to you all day. My husband and I love cemeteries as well, and try to visit some when we travel but that's not always possible. I also like to read obituaries. I feel like it's honoring the dead to read about their lives and to try to figure out how they died or what their lives were like. My mother always said that I marched to a different drummer (a pseudonym for being the black sheep of the family) and I think you do too, Lamont. I so much like your sensitivity to the dead and living and your patriotism. But I also like your intellectual curiosity and you're desire to go to the source for information and not follow the crowd. Thank you so much for doing this. In this world with identity politics and conformity, they need people like us who are willing to go down a different path (through the cemetery) so to speak. Peace to you. But I know that myself and a lot of others would like to contribute to a Patreon for you, to make your life a little easier and maybe get you one of those wind buffers for your microphone (haha) or whatever they're called. God bless Holly

I have going to cemetery's for years and yes I have alot of people saying I'm weird. I find peace when I'm there. Also there's alot of history there. I'm from Cincinnati live in Florida now, but if you ever get to Cincinnati try to go to Spring Grove cemetery on Spring Grove Ave. It's a beautiful place. Also. Arlington Memorial Gardens in Mt. Healthy. Thank You for letting me know I'm not so weird. God Bless You in your travels🙏

To visit a cemetery is to remind you of your own death. Making you humble and appreciative of the time you have.
