I used to think of my overweight self frequently. After having a recent setback where I slipped, gaining 46 lbs eating 11 days back to back. My body was so inflamed and bloated I was having problems with stamina/mobility. I definitely don't want to go thru this again. I now think of a slimmer, healthier me. I finally got back on track last Thursday. So far I released 38lbs in 6 days. Feels great to be back on track.

Jerome, you’re overtired. You need a rest day and a nap. As an accountant, I live with multiple deadlines and overtime. Every month end I’m tired and struggle with overeating. Why? I’m tired. God bless.😊

Consistency through imperfection is what got you here in the first place. None of us are perfect, which is why you are always preaching to us about consistency. Breaking your fast early may not be perfect, but we have faith in your ability to stay consistent and jump right back into a fast. Thanks for showing up and showing your vulnerability!

Thanks for the transparency. I’ve been doing rolling 72s which actually average out to about 91 hours typically. And I find that just jumping back into my fast after a refeed day is difficult ,so at this very moment I just decided to do a water fast for 21 days. I did it once for spiritual purposes at the start of the year, so I’m just going to do another one. And once my 21 days are up, I’ll have to find something that works best for me (I’m thinking of a raw vegan diet for a while). Rolling fasts are just way too challenging.

Must be something in the air - I was going through a rough mental battle over the last few days. Like you said, I wasn't even hungry, but my mind really wanted me to eat. Thankfully I persisted and I'm currently 39hrs into a 72hr fast. But as you always say, "imperfect consistency" is what it takes. We are with you!

I’m definitely not telling you what to do, but I do have a suggestion. It’s likely that the big contrast between your eating and your fasting is not realistic over the long term. You’ve realised massive progress with this strategy over the past few months, and it might be time to adopt a different approach. If I were in your position, I would bank my progress, and switch to an OMAD approach, with much more focus on the quality of my food. Removing the toxic processed foods and replacing with an all natural and organic (if possible) diet would be my choice moving forwards. You could still have a cheat day once a month or so, but really, getting past the desire for these foods is where the real ‘juice’ lies. Taking a more moderate approach over the next year, with a shift in mindset toward health rather than weight could be the beginning of your next chapter.. Very best of luck and thanks for all you do 👍

I agree, we work so hard to lose the weight, then when we get to our goal weight, its hard to maintain it. Its all mental as well...

@northwestcoast Ай бұрын
@@Lynn-hn3qs I think so too. Once most of the excess weight has gone then sports become a real possibility too. Then the relationship with food can really evolve
@northwestcoast
@northwestcoast Ай бұрын
@@indianrider956 Agreed; backsliding can be a real worry especially if you’ve been there before. I understand the hesitance to want to switch to another strategy if the current strategy has been successful, but I think it can be useful to recalibrate and reset, certainly once goal weight is reached, to something which encourages peak health as the number 1 priority. This might include a weekly 36 alongside OMAD, adjusted for daily activity levels, with a focus on clean foods

Heart-breaking to see you struggle Jeromey Rome BUT you've got a huge support system in us!! You better let those tears flow and give yourself grace!! Every-day is not going to be a rose colored day. Stress is gonna happen, turmoil is gonna happen, and even complacency is gonna happen. Give yourself some downtime, and like you always tell us, if you are feeling hungry, EAT. You didn't neglect fasting and binge, you fasted and then ate. The fact you are still fasting means you are still in a healthy place in your journey. You can always hit the reset button and get right back on track!! Giving you a virtual hug from Missouri. ❤❤🎉🎉

I’m so glad this safe space is available! My weight has yo-yo’d up and down for a large part of my life. I have discovered IF and mainly do OMAD but also do longer fasts from time to time. So I’m just working on fasting consistency and working out (losing fat and building muscle) and eating healthy. I don’t weigh myself often, because that usually causes me to obsess over the number. Instead I see how my clothes fit Onwards and upwards! *edit- I don’t have any friends or family members who fast. So from time to time I get trouble from folks who do not understand why I do it, or anything about what it is. I just trust the process, and carry on!

I’m currently about to start my third consecutive 91hr fast starting at 8:30est tonight. It’s been difficult but, I’m getting through it. I started my fasting at 215 and currently at 204.4 before my refeed a few hours ago. My goal maintenance weight is between 118-126lbs. Do you think that eating chips pizza ice cream cake contributed to the urge to binge? All these foods with dyes and chemicals,,, straight poisons are what contributes to the obesity and diseases. I know for myself if I eat something processed the next day I have cravings and mind games
@HillLeeHill
@HillLeeHill Ай бұрын
Craving are mot the same as having dinge eating disorder. People that don't have it will never truly understand what it means. BED has nothing to do with cravings. Not that I'm advocating for consuming processed crap because I'm not and yeah, when you eat that stuff it feeds that particular microbiome, which in turn causes craving for more of that same type of food.

Jerome, a few videos back you had one called "It's not just about fasting, its about creating healthy and sustainable habits" this title could be a clue to whats happening. It might be time to switch up your refeed to something that's sustainable long term. Maybe less calories and shorter fasts? Your body's needs could be evolving. You're doing great brother. ❤️

I have also experienced the not wanting to be seen that you mentioned. I also locked myself away at home for years. Because I was so disappointed in myself and depressed. And binge eating was also a big part of that time, although I was never really overweight because I have a fast metabolism. In my life I never had a healthy relationship with food, and I suffered from anorexia as well as binging. I can relate so much to everything you said. We really are a lot alike, Jerome. But now I am past all of it and it's such a feeling. My reason for fasting is because it gives me peace. Keep being accountable, Jerome. You are an inspiration for so many. This is not a fail.

The chemicals in the food.I don't know if you believe in God but he is our Joy, our peace. Know that you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. I have been there and still dealing with my weight. I went a whole year fasting 5 days on 2 days refeeding. I lost 90 pounds. Then something happened and I went back to eating whatever. I picked up most of my weight. NOW I have started over since June 13,2024. I have lost 30 pounds on the rolling 72. Remember God is there for you . The people love you.

That’s why I try to avoid chips and processed foods on refeed days. The American diet is so horrible and they put addictive stuff in processed foods like chips that make you want to eat more. Respectfully, Jerome, you're using a hammer for every fastener. You need more tools to construct your house. You are a T2D; you have blood sugar issues with the expected insulinemia issues. Whenever you eat too much sugar, and I mean any foods that break down into blood sugar (fruit included), your insulin will stay elevated far beyond any healthy individual, causing these uncontrollable feelings to binge, and the negative mental experiences. You need to add the tool of food choices to your fasting. Not only would you not have to be so extreme with your fasts, but you will never experience times lie these. Ask me how I know... an unfair hand that we were dealt--the choice is yours, as it was mine. Good luck!

Stop saying bing, just say I am going to eat tonight. Eat as much of health food that you can and when your full you can eat a piece of pie or something. When you are having a low fat percentage as you have now, your brain is trying to get you to eat. So give it food, just a lot of low cal and then a little of the other food. The hunger can be crazy, I know. Just hold on and good luck.

The why is your mind/body/soul is tired and you haven’t addressed the main issue, which is overeating. You’ve been using fasting to be able to eat 6k+ calories in a day. You say it isn’t binging because it looks different, but it’s just another drug you replaced the original with. You’re coping. You’re pretty impressive with what you’ve done. Be easy on yourself. Do what you gotta do, but you should really dig deeper so you don’t fall back into the hole. Your next step should be to hold yourself accountable for your refeed hours AND food volume not just your fasting hours.
