Well it would give him the chance to go full DM vs Plays mind set. If Pluto drops to zero hp in the fight he could have just been knocked out and the monster moves on.

When Trident transformed he forgot his name. All he remembered was the last few minutes before his transformation. The name "Clip Clop" echoed in his mind... but that name didnt seem right... so he settled on something similar and from that moment on he was known as... Blip Bloop. The rest is history.

Another spectacular game session, hats off to you all. One comment I would like to make is a strong personal dissatisfaction with persistent and potential turn consuming effects being applied via a single attack role. I had the same impression with the fire troll in the first episode. I feel if a persistent effect is to be applied (especially against non-legendary monsters) then some player agency via a saving throw should be included. This is an opinion with no play testing to back it up, merely a bias from prior years of gaming. Keep up the great work and good luck with the kick starter.

Pluto takes one step into Drakkenheim and immediately gets implanted by frog egg and capri sum'd by a nest of delirium butterfrees. Not a good look

I dunno... I usually love everything the Dudes do, but these monsters seem really punishing - in a way that forces players continously to spend their action to remove the conditions the monsters apply at default or often leaves them without an option to contribute to the fight, Pluto especially. But maybe I am overreacting, I haven't playtested any of them, so maybe someone can share their experiences as well. Thanks in advance!

Do you think these conditions are more or less punishing than being stunned or incapacitated? We specifically designed abilities which allow players to still act on their turn, but give them a choice. Rather than take away their choices. As players the whole team discussed after each episode how exciting and fresh combat felt. Also these play tests are specifically showcasing some of the most dangerous monsters we’ve created.

@@DungeonDudes Thanks for the answer! You are right, conditions like paralyzed or stunned are definitely less interactive than those which you can get rid of yourself - like the burning condition you designed. However, I feel like they effectively become non-choices at the point where they are so severe that they force a player's hand: F.e. Pluto's AC being reduced to 11 by the acid, leaving him vulnerable, or those eggs festering on his skin threatening a deadly disease. As I said, I don't know how restrictive these actually are, as I have not playtested them myself, but these conditions just passively stacking up on the characters have me under the impression they were struggling through those fights. While not designed too hard (the players beat the monsters after all), the characters don't feel as much in charge of the fights as they usually do. I do recognize that part of the reason for this impression stems from the intended narrative (Pluto's first expedition to DH going horribly wrong) and the framework event (You guys showcasing a book full of monsters and their abilities rather than the characters).

I know you've been asking for requests for stat blocks of old monsters, but how about one I dont think we've seen, but should? Centaurs. Riders fused to their horses as both get corrupted by the city. Either as a classical centaur (perhaps fallen fire paladins who were able to resist *most* of the corruption) or a 2 headed spider-centaur (4 horse limbs and 4 human limbs) Edit: oh, dang. I wrote this before the Bojack appeared lol

In my mind Gem/Gal probably took a load of delirium and treasure back to Caspia and Told Pluto wait for our return with reinforcements with these 100 soldiers for protection, Pluto gets restless after 2 weeks and thats right before Episode 1

You should be receiving it soon. A problem with every Kickstarter that goes to Canada is it often gets stuck in customs for about 2 weeks. It made it through customs a few days ago and should be en route. You can check your tracking info through backer kit if you want more specific information on your order. But it’ll be in your hands any day now.
