As an ex member of the cadet corps (air) I also had to swear an oath to the crown. Therefore the queen also has an army of 13-17 year olds. Also a note about the cadet corps in the uk; the air cadets are considered an official group of the Royal Air force, the army cadets are consider an official group of the Royal army, the marine cadets however rare are considered an official part of the Royal marines, the sea cadets are NOT considered part of the Royal navy.

Aussie here. Definitely not a Royalist either (not really for or against them), but I've always had a respect for ol' Liz. She had all of that power (debatable as it may be to what she did or didn't actually weild) but she lived her life under the belief that she was a servant of the people. She held herself to that expectation. I'm sure there was loads of dark shit covered up during her reign, but she always maintained this veneer of proprietety throughout. Charles is never going to match that regality. We voted a few years back now to remain in the Commonwealth, and I truly believe that if that happened again now Charles wears the crown, it would have a very different result. Elizabeth just had this air about her that none of the rest of that family can match. Could be that I'm still fairly young. Only 36 years, but all of those years were lived under the Queen of England. And now she's gone it feels weird to try and assign that ingrained respect to someone I've spent three decades watching comedians take the absolute piss out of. How do you respect a King that you've always seen as nothing more than a posh twat living in his mother's shadow?

I always maintained that when the Queen dies, Charles should become King for a day. He's waited his whole life for this, we can give him one day, have a big coronation party, and then abolish the monarchy. She did dissolve Parliament under Prime minster Whitlam in Australia back in the 70s. Walking out of Parliament after the dissolvment, Prime minister Whitlam when talking to the press famously said "Ladies and gentlemen, well may we say 'God save the Queen', because nothing will save the Governor-General''. The blame was put onto the Governor General for decades until secret letters between the Governor General and the Queen came out in the 2000s showing the queen had requested for Dissolvement of Parliament. So she has used her powers before and likely on other occasions aswell its just never talked about.

@@Zenek143 Well, they've talked about this kind of thing in the channel before and the unfortunate encounters Karl's had with some rather unwise people in the past, like recently I think he mentioned in a video about a comment someone made, not in real life, but that once on chat during a live stream someone asked him if he could come over and for his address after Karl mentioned about the plans he had for Halloween and that the person in question said they though it sounded great and that they would like to spend Halloween with Karl. That's the only example I can think of right now, but I'm sure I've heard him talk about other encounters with people on the street, people following or stalking him and/or his family and stuff of the sort.

I always think of the Crown Estates as a more prestigious branding of the best slice of National Trust Treasure houses. If the Monarchy was abolished, the government would pay the money directly to the national trust instead and the Royal Family would just be yet another multi-millionaire family flying about in helicopters. They would just have to get into another business to keep their standard of living the same or transition fully into non-governmental real estate management.

Harry and William are actually liked. This is well known over here. But they present themselves well, and served in the military. William also does charity work for the crown. that all aside, nobody, britain or else where, like charles or his wife. nobody likes his brothers. They only like the sons.
