Stay strong my friend, I know it's difficult when one of your favourite content creators decides to end their channel but you shouldn't let your depression drive you to drink. I'm sure you probably have friends and family that will support you through tough times. I know alcohol can be appealing, numb the pain, but it's only a crutch at best. No matter how much you consume it will never fill that void in your life. I hope all the best for you and that you'll find joy and self fulfilment in your own life instead of relying on others to provide your happiness.

On the bit about taste, there are 3 points I have heard that contribute to "acquired taste". 1. What Kyle said (taste buds die off as you age) 2. If you keep consuming something, your brain will reduce the proportional taste of negative aspects. 3. Cold reduces the perceived flavour. So using a beer as a common example, the flavour gets reduced as you age, becomes less bitter if you keep drinking it regularly, and is somewhat muted when really cold.

The thing about “taste” is that most of it comes from smells. Taste buds can only detect six “tastes” (salt, sweet, bitter, sour, savory, and umami)which is why food has less/no taste when you are congested. Having less taste buds actually allows you to pick out the nuances and flavors that are otherwise overpowered by the main six. So as your taste buds die, you can taste more

The "tastebuds die as you get older" thing is an urban myth - the changes are to do with psychology and brain chemistry, rather than your taste receptors. Your brain gets used to certain flavours and responds less strongly to certain tastes - both good and bad - as you get older and experience things more often. Drinking your first pint of bitter probably tastes horrid; drinking your thousandth pint likely doesn't bother you at all. Snobbery isn't cool, either way. Great video though! And I applaud your taste in whiskey :)

Just to comment in that Taste Notion here: I believe that Taste is something highly subjective and People just prefer different Things and that is generally a good Thing. Everyone should eat and drink what ever they like as long as they don´t over do it. The over doing Part is the Reason why i don´t like Tequila anymore and the Reason why i don´t like Asparagus is the combination of the Taste and the Texture of it... because the combination of "Mouth Feel", smell and Taste is quite an Repellent even if i know that many People like that Stuff even when their Wee smells like an rotten Rats Corpse afterwards. So enough Food for the Algorithm. Have a good one.
