Update: I’ve added two splitters at the end of the 4x4 balancers in the blueprint. They’re not essential but can be a helpful addition for certain setups. The updated blueprint is now available for anyone who wants it. Happy building! 🚀github.com/MaxiumeGaming/Factorio

Handy! Some thoughts: 1. You can make smaller buffers by having the output inserters side-feeding splitters that face the output belt on each side. This works because the inserter can dump it's load around twice as fast, and the splitter acts like a two-lane mini buffer. 2. If you don't want to completely redo your smelting section down the road, you can start by leaving three spaces between each line for beacons and, for the stone and steel furnaces, leave an extra space between them AND the center belt and have them output with a long inserter to the center belt. That way, you only have to clear out the furnaces and output inserters to place electric furnaces. 3. For more output, you can run extra belts either on the outside or between the inserters. If you do it between the inserters, then you can still fully beacon your smelting. Personally, for the input side, I run double belts with splitter that alternate between swapping items to the inside of the primary belt and adding from the secondary. I do basically the same thing, only the second splitter pushes item to the secondary belt. My smelting lines are twice as long while producing twice as much. 4. Speaking of fully beaconing smelting, it is actually better to *NOT* have smelters on both sides of the output line, as you then can only half-beacon your smelters. Running 8 beacons--with 1 speed and 1 efficiency--per smelter--with full productivity--makes for *AMAZINGLY* throughput. (...as long as you can product the necessary power, of course!) Cheers!

Loved the feedback. Cheers! The reason i didn’t do future proof smelting designs is because usually by that point players get bots and the structure of their base shifts dramatically.

They patched the side-feeding splitters technique so it no longer works

Oh did they? Good! It made no sense to me.

you're really good at this! keep it up!

dont wanna sound rude, but when you're making the design with two splitters to get two belts with 50\50 ore and coal, you can make it more compact by just extending the underground belt to full length and putting the splitters right where the belts are, so the whole construction is 2 belts wide(saw this in Bigfoot's widgets video)

Hummm… im not understanding your design exactly. Can you pass me the blueprint string please?
Thanks! I will. 😊 what other topics would you like to see?

I prefer to think of a splitter as a “1/2” equation… that’s how I started to understand load balancers anyway 🤓

Exactly!

Oh wow i thought eletric furnaces were actually kinda useless, didn't think about the beacon design. Thanks a lot

You're welcome:) Yeah beacons and modules are a game changer!

Your design for a full belt of smelting via electric furnaces is one tile too tall, you should have one belt in and one belt out. Use long handed inserters or regular inserters to pull from the input, then use the alternate inserter to put on the output belt. No need to realign the items on the belt in the middle of the smelter when the top line of furnaces outputs to the bottom of the belt, and the bottom line of smelters outputs on the top of the belt!

Interesting idea. I guess Im never too worried about spacing in Factorio.

Great tutorial.... do one for space age...
@Maxiume2 күн бұрын
Cheers! What do you mean for space age? Are you talking about Foundry?

Adding foundry was gonna be my comment. While you're at it, talk about making green, red and blue chips. Two foundries and an electromagnetic thing.

Dudes! how about a nice "please"? OP did an extremely well put together, well recorded and well edited video for base Factorio.

A yelow inserter can keep each side fueled and you dont need a belf input for coal
@MaxiumeКүн бұрын
Hummm i don’t get that 🤔
@jaykhalid2374Күн бұрын
Ay that's actually really helpful have you considered using foundries? Their output is significantly better than smelters and I'd love to too blueprints on it

Cheers! Maybe I'll cover foundries in a different video. What other tutorials would you like to see?

For tut ideas, I'd suggest train design. Spacing between the lanes, distance of robo ports relative to power tower spacing. Maybe add in a radar so you can still what's going on out there.

That’s acc a very good idea. Ill cover it soon.
