Hey, you missed one neat thing about asteroid processing. With asteroid productivity research you can also bring crushing recipes to x4 yields, and if Wube did not patch this since last time I checked, the 20%/5% asteroid "cashback" for basic and adv crushing are NOT excluded from prodbar yields. This means you can upscramble your asteroids in crushers with same 80% return rate, guaranteed to stay in desired type once you make it so (you are losing some legendary wrong-type asteroids), plus you get the sub-tier yields in the process that you can also re-scramble in place. This is not applicable to either calcite or coal. However, it covers the iron ore. You will get same 80% asteroid return on scramble cycles and the ore you get is just an extra. Is that manageable in terms of space platform logistics? Honestly, idk, the iron ore yield rates are insane even with the base recipe.
@MrRipple12313 күн бұрын
you can also do this sort of thing with electro plants once blue circuit productivity research can get you up to 300%. that can get you legendary iron plate, copper plate, plastic, 1 for 1, with only sulfuric acid input.
@Nora-transspire13 күн бұрын
I thought of this too, but don’t you need those legendary green and red circuits to craft the blue ones again? I feel like this is more like “storage”. You can craft and recycle them at will, but you can’t make a loop out of it, since u need two solid legendary ingredients. LDS is so useful cause u only need the plastic to make them. Giving you the ability to siphon off the steel and copper.
@AbsoluteHuman13 күн бұрын
@@Nora-transspire No, you don't need any quality input whatsoever. Normal in, legendary out. Recycle down if you need the components. Arguably more efficient than asteroids. LDS shuffle gives you free steel and copper, sure, but this way you can get iron too.
@Nora-transspire13 күн бұрын
@ that makes sense! how did I not think of it? thank you! :)
@arandomcube354012 күн бұрын
I am not sure to understand. To make this work, you start by making normal blue circuits, then recycle them with quality modules to make quality cicrcuits, and repeat for each quality ? And there is no losses because of the productivity in every plant ? (Just to make sure I get it right)
@Nora-transspire11 күн бұрын
@ I think so yes. Tinkered with it yesterday quite a bit. I wouldn't compare it to the lds loop, since there is no free stuff and it takes up way more space and doesn't come near the amazing output of the lds loop. I don't have the research to get 300% prod with only quality modules yet tho. The normal quality stage I just used beacons and prod modules for 300% and the recyclers and stages later use only quality. It's just like normal upcycling (in my case), but way more efficient due to prod research. So you feed it only a lil quantity of normal circuits (and acid)

@pulkitkrishna88099 күн бұрын
@masterhacker7065 300% is endless. 300% means you get 3 extra free things every time you craft one. So, 4 things for ingredients of 1. And when you recycle it, 25% of 4 is 1, so you get the ingredients of 1 thing back, which can be used to craft 4 more things. Now, since you also get copper and steel from recycling, but don't need it for crafting, you get them for free endlessly.
@88porpoise8 күн бұрын
@@masterhacker7065No, the 300% is exactly enough to get infinite copper and steel from LDS. The 300% is set so that you can, at most, get exactly what you put into in back from a recycler. But it does not consider all alternative recipes. Since you can make LDS using liquid iron and copper plus plastic at a foundry but the recycler only considers the base recipe, you recycle it to get the copper and steel back as well as 100% of the plastic, you just got an infinite source of copper and steel for a small amount of calcite. Don't think it is that broken compared to other things, you could just upcycle metallic asteroids and use that to produce copper and iron after all. But it is darned nice and maybe a touch to easy to get going.

1:55 "What if we took all of the other inputs, recycled them, and built higher quality" - I don't understand this. "other" inputs? Other inputs is just more of the same input since it's all normal quality at this point. If you mean "other outputs" (e.g. all the non-quality output) then that makes a bit more sense, but recycling normal quality outputs gives you back normal quality raw materials, so you can't directly make higher quality like you've got shown in the video. I feel like this relies on the recycler quality but that's explained afterwards and presented like it's an additional bonus. I'm very confused.

You didn’t mention the main downside of this method. It does not scale up. You are limited to how fast you can receive items from space platforms, and so this method can never generate as much materials as planet based methods. Though it is still nice for a lower barrier to entry in mid-game.
@nosnikdanych366712 күн бұрын
Its just as simple as placing another space platform. Ability to scale is an upside of this method. This guy however explained it incorrectly. Planet based methods will never be as fast as space ones, because of asteroid productivity, not because they are "free" and infinite but because of 20% return rate, and 300% productivity, with simple recipes you get 80% legendaries back, same with epics etc. If you have some more question you can ask

@nosnikdanych3667 his point was that sending the resources back to the planet is the biggest bottleneck.

@ 1. You will not quickly reach this limit. unless spending these legendaries for science. 2. Maybe you didnt know that, but you can use bots to empty hub
@DataScienceDIY12 күн бұрын
@nosnikdanych3667 It’s true that you can use bots, and with a good design you can extract a huge amount of materials from the hub that way. Maybe even more than with the additional inserters, but bots are a much bigger hit to UPS, and with giant games UPS becomes another bottleneck.

those require different tricks or sometimes just upcycle starting with the ore mining (like the tungsten ore) For leg jelly you just upcycle it the normal way. Any leftover jelly on your bus goes into the upcycler and you output leg jelly from it. Don't extract jelly from nuts without prod modules as you might run out of seeds. Also any unused jelly nut on your bus goes into the upcycler to leg jellynut, then just make leg jelly out of it with prod modules. I have not upcycled leg fish as I'm not using spidertrons at all; for this you'll have to make a fish farm and upcycle it to leg. For leg tungsten products, you start by using quality modules in your miners, then upcycle to leg tungsten ore.

you don't actually need those until late game as the leg for those means only they produce eggs faster. You can have a few more normal biternests and just upcycle the biter eggs to leg for leg prod modules. I noticed that at around 2k egg prod per min I started getting leg biter eggs consistently in my upcycler, but YMMV depending on your setup.
