Don Johnson was born on December 15, 1949, in Flat Creek, Missouri. His journey to stardom was an unusual and unexpected one but it eventually led him to become one of the most popular actors in American cinema and television. Don Johnson's breakthrough came in the 1980s when he starred as Detective Sonny Crockett in the popular television series "Miami Vice." His portrayal of the suave and stylish detective not only made him a star but helped him influence popular culture. Don Johnson had an eye for fashion and the clothing he wore on the show made him an icon throughout the country.
Following the success of "Miami Vice," Johnson's career flourished both on the small and big screens. He ventured into film with memorable roles in movies such as "Dead Bang," "Tin Cup," and "Django Unchained." He also gained fame with another TV role in the show “Nash Bridges.” He had no problem acting in both cinema and television and had equal success in both mediums.
He is one of the few actors who has been able to create great characters in both mediums as well. He has also maintained longevity and is as much a star today as he was back in the 1980s when he first blew up in the acting scene.
Throughout his life, Johnson has received critical acclaim and numerous accolades for his work. He won a Golden Globe award for his role in "Miami Vice" and received several Emmy nominations. But despite the numerous successes in his career, his personal life has often been troubled. It’s been a wild ride involving women, drugs, and BILLIONS of dollars!

Very nice guy. My friend teaches film at a University in Beaumont and 2 of his students went to be extras in Tin Cup. During a break in filming, they approached Kevin Costner to ask for some tips and he immediately blew them off. They went over to Don Johnson and he asked them all kinds of questions and had them over to his trailer for a Coke. He gave the m advice and also a couple of phone numbers to call of people in Hollywood in the Industry. Also, my sister had a boyfriend that used to work for the phone company. He was installing a phone line in a movie trailer and Don Johnson walked in and chatted with him for a long time.

I’ve known Don for many, many years now. I have not seen or talked to him since 2010, but I found him during the time we hung out to be a great stand-up guy on many levels. I did not have in any way a fallout with Don. We met through a very good friend of ours over a business project I had developed and was looking to raise capital. He loved my project, but it was too big a stretch from his film projects. My company involved Medical Devices, which were way outside his wheelhouse. But he loved what I was doing and wanted to help me. Your piece on him was great. By the way, I have first-hand knowledge of the incident in Switzerland, not Germany, and the amount was also inaccurate. But by and large, your piece was excellent and brought back many fond memories. Ted

@@FactsVerse I first noticed gorgeous Don Johnson in The Long Hot Summer....a role that was made for him and ,thankfully , I managed to purchase a copy. After that it had to be his Rolè as Sonny Crockett. What a performer he is. He and Philip Michael Thomas were both incredible in the parts they played . They were believable. Two young guys given their parts that they acted with reality included . They really did make us believe in everything they did . Don's ability to play the part of Sonny who was often an emotional cop and one who could be a bit of a loose cannon was incredible. I think this has far surprassed the description of a " cop series " . It now has cult status . Thankfully I managed to purchase every episode and I never tire of them . Yes, with the unlined white linen sportscoat and those shallow v-neck, but SLEEVELESS peach or black t-shirts were devastating, with his pistol harness. And COME ON, he invented the "haven't been home for 3days to shave" growth...and no one wears it better (Ari Melber, a close second).

I've always liked Don Johnson, and am sorry to hear that he's had some problems, but don't we all? As a corporate pilot, I flew Mr. Johnson, and his family, on several occasions before they split, and always found them to be very courteous passengers. Melanie was especially bubbly and outgoing. Post split, I flew just Don several times, and had the opportunity to chat with him while waiting for other pax. Some may not know that he was a pilot himself, and piloted his own jet AND helicopter. Some celebrities can be total a** wipes, but Mr. Johnson was a great passenger, and very down to earth to chat with. I wish him well.
